Plans for the Summer

Post by Big and Bashful »

June seems a long way off at the moment, but I have a cunning plan!
Just ordered tickets for me and a mate, for the Download festival in June. A sort of Rock-fest thing I presume, 5 days of camping and the aforementioned Rock festival. I saw that System of a Down are headlining and therefore it must be attended by me. This is a good excuse to go to Donington and drink. Oh yes, my cunning plan is to indulge in Festival type free form clothing ,i.e. indulge myself by wearing skirts throughout.

Good on you, B&B. I suppose you'll camp on site a la Glastonbury. Hope the weather holds for you. I can't think of anything worse than trying to dry out 8 yards of very wet kilt !

The music should do your head in, too.

Wasn't planning on taking a kilt, too labour intensive, I reckon a denim skirt or two, long for wet times, and knee length for sunny weather should do it. Hmmm, maybe a Macabi, they should be here soon). Those are my first thoughts anyway. Can't wait to see what other bands are playing.
Concert line-up for next year includes Christy Moore, The Levellers and The Wonderstuff as well as System of a Down, I think that counts as a wide taste in music! Oh, and the Ullapool Guitar Festival is a must. Oh, and I have tickets for Gerry Sadowitz on the way (Frightening Scottish comedian).
Hopefully I will still have time for sailing and canals to happen.

Denim skirts sound practical for the occasion.
I'm getting a thirst for this sort of festival, so perhaps I will join a band when I retire (kilted/skirted too).

On a practical note, wet denim, skirt or trousers, is the most uncomfortable thing in creation.

Like shorts, Minis don't mind getting wet, but wearing them at a festival, where a lot of sitting around is done might be difficult. Perhaps a straight or A-line knee length in perhaps khaki or similar might be the best bet.
Liking the kilt shape myself, I'd go for a couple of cheap kilted skirts, which look OK but don't have yards of cloth.

I was toying with the idea of taking a 22" full circle skirt (Another Midas) but the red diagonal tartan is a bit extrovert for me. Also, the other, other, different other Midas cargo skirt, the original 20" one which is on the short side (shown in my pics and looks), might do instead of a pair of shorts, unfortunately that one needs ancillary clothing, which puts me off it a bit.
