This is my latest project.
Trousers were £6 from Tesco, so cheap enough.
Im taking more pictures this time,so hopefully others can learn from what I do (whether right or wrong)
First thing to learn is to make sure you have the correct colour thread - the brown I'm using is somewhat paler than the cloth... :?

Nothing wrong with contrasting stitching.
Done all the time in denin and jeans wear.
With denin it is common to see orange or white detail on the blue material
Especially along seams; pockets; belt loops and faux or otherwise fly closings.
Only thing to remember is to use it uniformly for balance OR not thus avoiding a lot of unnecessary sewing.
Finding the right (exact) color thread to match the material is a challenge unless it is black or white.
So 'Good Luck' - anxious to see and read of your progress.

I've been converting cargo shorts into "Cargo Skirts" for about 3 years now. All the TONS of pockets makes it a grrrreat Idea!! :faint:

1st pic are the standard, dark brown/green trousers.

2nd pic; now reduced to shorts

3rd pic; converted to skirt shape, infill panel of cloth tacked on prior to sewing.

Front and rear pics of the finished article.
Unfortunately the paler thread makes my lack of straight lines all too obvious
I now have some fine black thread....
