Amen Dress
Amen Dress
Saw this https://orttu.com/products/amen-dress. Expensive, so I won't be buying it any time soon. But at least it doesn't look stupid, and the models are sporting bare legs (gasp!) in some of the images.

It's OK, I wasn't going to press my trigger finger on the "Add to Bag" buttonrenesm1 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 12:18 pm Hold fire. This dress by the same company is £20 less!!! https://orttu.com/collections/men-tops/ ... inal-dress

At least a mini skirt looks like one means to have bare legs ............
My name is Anthony, please accept me for the person that I am.
Re: Amen Dress
I purchased their Cardinal dress some months ago. While it is/was a bit on the pricey side, it’s quality clearly made it obvious, why the price tag was what it was. I absolutely love it.
Re: Amen Dress
It looks like a "dress" that I bought in Egypt a year or two ago for a lot less money. I got an over garment with it. White with royal blue trims. Red is the wrong colour for me - my wife would never entertain a bright red garment - it would clash with her hair colour - natural titian red going on white.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Re: Amen Dress
Meh. I do like a smart maxi, but the slit makes it entirely too flappy for me. Whenever I buy side (or back) slit dresses, I usually sew the slit shut. I'm not entirely sure why those waist-high slits drive me bonkers, but they do.

Re: Amen Dress
I notice the models wear heavy clodhoppers instead of sandals. Sandals or lighter shoes would look a lot better.

I have figured it out, it is a medical condition, both of his legs are shorter than the other. So he has to wear built up shoes or his legs wouldn't reach the ground!
You know it makes sense!

Re: Amen Dress
I agree with the flappiness. I got some t-shirt fabric to try and make something like that but you end up having to make a choice. If you don't make slits then you make a tube and if it's too narrow you can't walk (I don't like skin-tight around the thighs either). But if you fill in the sides it becomes an ordinary dress. I suspect they're really trying to make something that doesn't look like a dress.
Something I have considered is to keep the slits, but put an underskirt in it of the same or contrasting colour. That gives you the same silhouette, but without flashing your thighs at everyone.

There is no such thing as a normal person, only someone you don't know very well yet.
Re: Amen Dress
That's a big, fat MEH from me. Doesn't move the needle even a little.
I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.
Re: Amen Dress
I was good with it until the dude's hairy leg slipped out the side and kneed me in the eyeball. I may never recover.renesm1 wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 12:14 pm Saw this https://orttu.com/products/amen-dress. Expensive, so I won't be buying it any time soon. It's basically a thawb with cap sleeves and too-long slits. I suspect it lacks the utility of a real thawb, especially the dual two-chambered pockets sewn into the sides. I give the designer a B- for thinking out of the box a little, but if I want a long dress I can always get a real thawb relatively inexpensively. I've not ordered one online yet, but there are outfits that will make them to your measurements and with options you choose (like collars and sleeves).

Re: Amen Dress
The price is out to lunch,
It kinda has ok look, The sides opened all the way up kinda kill it,
With tights under it changes the look.
I would not be running out to buy it even if it was under 50 buck's

Re: Amen Dress
I'm with Ralph on the subject of slits. I actually get dressmakers to sew them up. Interesting that there are so many reviews from men who have worn it in public - and this is not a cheap item.
