The Target Dress Challenge - prairie style
I hate these social-media-inspired-hysteria type of things, but this one popped up on my radar (I read neatorama) and thought I'd share:

I don't go to Facebook, and the post is behind a firewall. Only notable because these styles of dresses have popped up in discussions here at times, and evidently Target is selling them. Not my style, IMHO, but figured it couldn't hurt to share. Also, evidently some guys donned dresses which make this slightly relevant, though from the one post on the Buzzfeed article, might not be sending the right message.

After they are done with their photos, maybe these people could wear the garments as nap dresses.

Absolutely my style! My earliest memories of wanting to wear a dress go back to my preteen years when I'd watch "Little House on the Prairie" as much for the clothes as for the stories. Over the years I became obsessed with having a calico prairie dress like that, and in general my tastes still run to similar elements: High neckline, long sleeves, full, ankle-length skirts that you have to hitch up to run in, a bit of ruffle aound the hem and/or bodice and/or cuffs...
I showed a picture of an outfit to a friend and she said "You dress like my grandmother!"
I took that as s compliment.
Still haven't found the Laura Ingalls dress, at least not in my size, but I'm getting closer to having the ability, equipment, and pattern to make one of my own.
If anyone finds a link to where those Target dresses are before I find them, post it here please.
[edit] Ah, here we go. And in plus size!

Hmm! Interesting! Not exactly something I'd wear right now because of how frigid it is, but I'd give a dress like that a try once spring rolls around. I think I could make that work.
I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.
