AGE APPROPIATE

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Here's one I don't think is age-appropriate:

How about season appropriate? Illinois isn’t exactly balmy at this time of year.
I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.

How in the world does that dress come in your size? Obviously it is marketed to your age :?

I guess so. I think I'd still be uncomfortable wearing it out and about!

I like to think of fashion "dictates" the same way I think of road signs: suggestions.

I can't think of anything that would make freestyle dressing less fun than hard rules. Soft rules, on the other hand, can be liberating, if taken with adequate grains of salt.

In an ideal world everybody should be able to pick the clothes of their liking from the shops without any restrictions or remarks. There should be no separation along the male/female watershed. Even the notion of what goes together is a matter of taste that might change with time. When I was young, blue and green could not be worn together. As far as I know it is no longer "forbidden."

The rule was always "blue and green should never be seen" but is largely ignored these days. As is men not wearing pink. I love pink .... and yellow .... and blue .... and ....
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Me too....

Today I had on an Olive Green shirt dress to wear to the doctors to give blood for tests and to the VA Clinic to have the back of my eyes photographed. I had one compliment from some one who was an office worker.

Made my day!!..

Age appropriate?????? We start off in nappies as babies and some of us will end up in them as old men.
