I think I'd enjoy actual crossdressing, if, I could make an attractive and believable woman. When I think about why that may be so, I've come to the conclusion it's because of a desire to look sexy and physically attractive, but for guys that generally isn't done, so the flip to female to make it "permissible" Does that make sense? I'm constantly trying to find a look that gives that result, in a male format, but I keep running into resistance from my own visual preconceptions.
I think if I lost a little belly fat, maybe a couple of inches at least, if I wanted to attempt to "pass", I could probably manage it. A good clean shave, plenty of makeup to hide the five o-clock shadow, eyeliner, eyeshadow, mascara, etc. Finally a pretty hair piece (a wig), and I think I could pull it off, minus the fact that my hands are a little tattered from years and years of turning wrenches for a living. But from a distance...? I think so. Mom thinks I'd make an ugly woman. I disagree, I've just never attempted to be a "pretty woman", I've only ever endeavored to be... me.

But.... that's not Moon Shadow. It might be fun for a Halloween party, or some other event where it would be expected, but it doesn't suit my "soul" to live my life that way...............
It is worth noting that both the male and female of my parents generation considered that cross dressing parties were good fun in their youth . Both sexes cross dressed .

If we further consider that the young male wore dresses until he was five years old.....and ladies like Greta Garbo and Amelia Arhart ( ? ) took to wearing trousers
in the pre war period , .....This does put a different perspective on the for runners of our men in skirts. ...Nothing is new in the fashion world.....
It is just the perspective in which it is seen...

It is generally accepted that one laughs at the Drag Queen ..This is perhaps what unnerves those who chose to follow the Men in Skirts life style .

If we were perhaps more accommodating to those who have a genuine curiousity regarding our Men in Skirts Life Style we might have an increased following ....

....Another matter is the number of males who may or may remain ... " in the closet " ....as Men in Skirts ...in their own homes....

The persistant rise and fall of the popularity of the " Traditional Male Scottish Kilt " through the years and through the regions is another interesting subject
which does cause some disagreement in this Café......If one choses to surf the webb sites..... attitudes do vary from Region to region across the World .

There are at least 3 active Kilt Wearers' webb sites across the World ....

To return to the thread ......There are many ways in which the male can feel comfy in his chosen male attire.

In my pinion Drag Queens tend to seek the extremes and present a full female for 200%.

In order to crate more acceptance of a man in a skirt, I would like to suggest that the ensembles choses should be a positive advertisement. Properly matched clothe, colours which match and just letting see the public that a man can wear a kilt or a contemporary kilt (=skirt).

Please provide the links to the other active kilt wearers fora, maybe an interaction can be created and thus a larger "stage".

Thank you Gusto. I would agree with your post....I have previously explained that I must be satisfied with my outfit before leaving my home in the morning.
The lassies enjoy my chosen outfits . Most of my outfits are somewhat retro as they came from the Charity shops . Perhaps the lassies may have worn
a similar full summer skirt ....Back in their youth ....Remember that as I am a Man in a Skirt so my summer skirt is complimented by a Male tweed sports jacket
which the Lassie's Husband may have worn when the couple were younger .

One of my friendly lassies always compliments me on my Traditional Scottish Kilt and speaks of her Highland Wedding with her Kilted Bridegroom.
Her son is now intending to join his father in the Fleet Air Arm....Playing with aircraft...Anyone who has smelt Avocat will know what I mean .

I must be sure that my Kilted Outfit is correct to her happy family memories.

I have been looking for underwear to enhance my rear and give my hips a bit more fullness but have drawn a blank. Some of my skirts look a little baggy as I don't quite have the feminine curves to fill them out correctly. I guess I need to get back onto ebay and look around...
you know they made a 'push-up' style brief/panty a while back. Designed to work like the old push up bras - but for your butt cheeks.
I have tried one - basicaaly a boyleg style panty with a g string in it - with fabric slings that cup under your butt cheeks and lift them. Basically like an open cup bra I suppose - your butt cheeks are exposed but they are supported and lifted all around.

a bit of useless information for you. Not sure where the gatments are now - but they were around in shops a few years ago. Not a very pretty looking brief - mind you shapewear never is.

cheers

And way Too Much Information.

This is The Skirt Cafe, not the Knickers Cafe. Tread carefully.

Alternatively,N2S, you could have your skirts taken in round the derrière, to fit your male physique.

Macy's has shapewear with removable pads.

Marilyn Monroe lingerie has a line of high waist pantyhose with special knitting in the panty portion to lift the wearer's rear quarters.

I can personally attest that the former item works as promised, but does not provide hips, which are more to the point of filling out your skirts and dresses.

As for the MM hose, I have no idea what they do for one's shape, but every time I pop in at Ross Dress for Less, I hunt for them in my size. Hope springs eternal and $3-8 beats the daylights out of $16 for a relatively fragile, but very silky, pair of hose.

I hope I have been sufficiently technical to pass moderation. Please feel free to edit to be sure the data gets passed along.
