Regarding Sinned and his comments re girls in short pleated gym skirts ....
..does this have any psychological reaction causing males to become "men in skirts " ?

.....perhaps this verges on the edge of the T V world which we would rather avoid......
However the Male is certainly physically attracted to these fit athletic females......... weeladdie

If I am not mistaken, the timeout window that's in force to log folks out who are idle is 60 minutes, so unless one composes really, really slowly shouldn't be a problem. If it is a problem, occasionally hitting the "preview" button will reset the counter and give one an impression of what his finished post will look like -- which is a good idea for a few reasons.

Some are, and some aren't. Given the modern exemplar of "feminine beauty" as the slab-sided waif/teenage-boy look, I find myself insufficiently homosexual to be attracted. I prefer the classic beauty of curves and softness; however, any sort of curves are now classified as obesity. Go figure.

I'm really not an expert on this matter, so maybe I should keep my mouth shut :-) With some of our software there is an IIS timeout that causes our users problems. Once you have authenticated there is something like a token in the GUID so that when you post back to the database (with your new comment in this case) it recognises you as an authenticated user. This token only has a life of about 10 minutes. Could be totally unrelated to what is being seen here, so please feel free to ignore me and see me for the eeedjit that I am :-)

SkirtCafe doesn't run on IIS, we run atop Apache. I can see Microsoft coming up with such idiocy [0], but fortunately that sort of protocol-breakage is rare in the Real World.

I'd posit this is a case of very long -- as in "inordinately long" -- composition times [1] or, perhaps, the local host receiving a new -- and quite different -- IP address from the upstream ISP. Where I used to live we had a POS (a real steaming pile it was, too) router that'd get a new IP address -- sometimes on wildly different subnets -- every random-number of minutes/hours which bedevilled me for a while. That issue got solved due to another issue, and the one I have now has been so stable that I've put it into the global DNS in a zone I have "influence" over. It's as good as a static.

[0] See, "Embrace and Extend". [2]
[1] Hence my suggestion of availing one's self of the "Preview" button and all the good stuff that can come from that.
[2] Aka, "Engulf and Devour".

I've never had an issue with S.C. logging me out between post, and I've been known to keep a post box up for a pretty good while (at least 45 minutes or better). The computer has a cookie set so I stay logged in even in between visits.

I suppose if I were having an issue like the one described, I'd just draft my post on an external word processor and copy it over when ready to post....

The Russians used a pencil...

Since I use 3 different machines to attend the cafe sometimes I lose the cookie on one machine or the other and have to re-log-in. I don't know if the cookie is actually lost or the host (SC) decides not to recognize it any more so I have to set a new one.

That is the only problem I have other than the loss of the occasional cookie is the Stupid ISP (ISP is TDS.NET) who refuses to upgrade its equipment to allow speeds in excess of 3 MPS download and 1 MPS upload.... And still charges an arm and a leg for it.

They know they can get away with this because the only other Internet service is satellite as there are no cable systems with in 25 miles of my place. Satellite service is patchy at best because of the storms and other disruptions to the service.

Never really had any problems with timeouts and I have been known to be logged into a site for days and days without being dropped. I seem to recall that I may have lost a post when trying to save mine at the same time as someone else. I may be wrong on this though or it may be that the problem was fixed. If I feel an essay coming on then I do it an Notpud or Weird and copy it over.

School bullies were the bane of my life in secondary school, I was really bad at sport, wanted to learn, wore Glasses and was a bit portly. Just too different from the common heard not to be the target of bullies. Thankfully I had the friendship of others who were in he same boat and one lad who, it turned out was Gay (not that it mattered to me he was a nice lad). So I did quite well.

I, to, loved to see the young ladies playing Netball in their sports kilt, mind the skill shown by the players and the discipline was incredible but boys were not allowed to play netball just soccer, rugby and cricket. Our psychopathic sports master tried in vein to make me like sport but failed, perhaps his assaults with a cricket on my backside had some bearing on that!

Today I am still portly, bad at sport, wear Glasses an love to learn (target of at least one new fact per day). Recently qualified as a Domestic Natural Gas Engineer at 53.

I am thankful my IPS Plusnet fibre is really stable and testing at teatime today revealed a downstream value of 69.45 Mbit and upstream 18.64 Mbit. They are the best I have used and very knowledgable when encountering any issues. Proof is I am on my Third contract with them and they speak English in their call centre.

Image of a netball skirt I bought from an Australian firm:

I got the one with the Green and Blue plaid tartan design.

Neat micro mini pleats smooth clean waist closing with small patch of Velcro and sliding tab.
If wearing for fashion get your (almost) exact size if wearing for the sport get one size larger
for ease in fielding the (net) ball.

Another way I've found in 'saving' a post that disappeared, was to use the "Back Arrow"
at the top of my browser. This will take you back to the page you were on prior to the
one you received after hitting the "Submit" button.

Just my $.02 worth :D

Thank you gentlemen regarding your technical advice for my computer problems. It would seem that my windows 8.1 was having a bad day.

This thread was originally regarding schoolboys wearing skirts as a protest.......The next question is ....If you were a schoolboy today, would you
wish to wear a skirt to school as part of your uniform ?

Perhaps the second question would be " If you were school age today would you , as a boy , like to wear skirts when you are not at school ? "

I personally find that as I matured into my twenties the whole skirt wearing thing changed from being a fancy dress cross dressing thing to
being a "man in skirts " cult fashion......Perhaps this is the way the male mind matures.

We tend to believe that it is just not done to be a man who wears a skirt......but on the other hand no on really cares what we wear.
However if that person is our Partner or our Employer they may have a different opinion.........

One thing I have found is that some "man in skirt " fashions are just not pleasing to my eye................ weeladdie

Now come on guys. I was in my early teens and the hormones playing tricks with the system meant that any females in short skirts were a delight to see. Added to the fact that I was in a single sex school and thus starved of female company. Natural, my reactions were, natural.

Now what were we talking about? Ah, losing posts.

For a non-trans-* boy to try something like this could well be considered foolhardy at best and downright stupid at worst.

In short, for kids, it's not worth it -- even if they can conceive of it. Conform whilst you're confined to The System, keep an open mind if you can, and branch out when you're safely clear of the jaws. As a straight teenage guy, is it worth the probability of getting the stuffing kicked out of you simply for wearing something other than trousers? I posit, "no". Kids are some of the nastiest creatures on the face of the planet, and they're also smart enough to not invite trouble needlessly.
So a school may have an official dress code that seems open minded...but have an unwritten rule against MIS, enforced by bullies.

I can relate to the conforming part. As a kid I was curious about skirts, but I was very careful not to reveal that to anyone. Boys weren't supposed to be interested in skirts.

Weren't the boys supposed to be (more) interested who was wearing the skirts ? LOL !
