Halloween

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Halloween

I used to look forward to Halloween each year since it is the one day I could wear a skirt without worrying about being embarrassed, harrassed, or worse.

But now, I would rather skip Halloween and wear a skirt on the other 364 days.

My wife and I are playing Popeye and Olive Oil this year. She is short and stocky and I am tall and lean. Guess who gets to be Olive Oil! Oh well, it's tough job and somebody has to do it! Wife sanctioned no less. Fortunately, Olive Oil is flat chested so no need to work with fake boobs and such. It doesn't appear that she wore makeup either, so no need for that either. It's clear that she did shave, so I guess I can accommodate that.

I will post pics....

Personally I detest Halloween.

[UK centric view]

It is largely an excuse for poorly raised kids to terrorise vulnerable folks by demanding treats as an alternative to playing tricks on them. The old lady across the road from me makes sure she is out every Halloween because she's sick of having kids she does not know and will probably never see again (except perhaps the same date next year) demand goodies.

I will go out tonight. Kids knocking on the door before I go out will be told in no uncertain fashion that I am not interested in their petty thuggery and that they should leave my property. Any parent stupid enough to be with their little horrors when they knock on the door of a house whose owners they do not know will get the sharp edge of my tongue.

[/rant]

Have fun, but please do it without intimidating or upsetting other folks,

Ian.

That's mostly why I go to Bingo every Halloween evening. I did leave an aluminum platter of individually wrapped candies outside the front door with the outside light on and a tiny camera pointed right at the platter to see how many came. Watching the recording when I came home was upsetting tho. When I got home around 11 pm the platter was empty as I expected it to be, but the recording showed the first boy to show up (with his parents and wearing NO costume) was entreated aloud to just "take it all and let's go home"..which he did. All 7 dollars worth of candies. 3 bags full.

I can't even call his parents to tell them their son is a thief, they were there telling him to do it...:( :( :( A sad world we are entering into. :blue:

I reckon a letter to the local paper telling the story (no names) would be appropriate.

I might even be inclined to ask that the parents put a receipt for a charitable donation in your letterbox equal to the value of the sweets or you go ahead and publish name and picture... Sure it's blackmail, but if you are not going to gain personally from it...

Another option might be to have a quiet word with the local boys in blue, they owe you a favour and one of their number having a quiet word about theft with the parents might make them think a bit harder next time and so produce a small increase in the honesty of the local community.

Have fun,

Ian.

I put on a big bonfire in my village every Halloween. Lots of lights, smoke and scary sounds. The police dept. supplies hot dogs, marshmellows, apple cider and donuts. The village even supplies the firewood. I hosted a couple hundred people last night. Dressed in my best Braveheart outfit, I had a great time. I love Halloween!

That's a good idea, Ian, I can't do it though, this "kid" is about 16 and is known already in the neighborhood for his violent tendencies on people's property when they are not there. I go about 2 times a month to the Miccosukie Resort and Casino in Miami Fla. to play poker to break the tedium around here now that I no longer fish. That's a 2 hour drive each way and an all day trip. So far, he's not broken in to my home and I don't want that to change. His father, by the way, is a Sgt. in the local "boys in blue". That Dad is going to end up either arresting his own son or quitting his job when the "kid" gets to 18 and is treated as an adult.

I'm just too old and decrepit to take a chance to have him break into my home when he thinks I'm not here and hurt me OR since I won't fight him, have me kill him with one of my guns. Like when my van is in the mechanic's shop. He can be as tough as an MMA fighter, but even they can't stop a .357 mag. from entering their bodies. And I don't need all the crap that comes with doing something like that again. In 1975 in Tavernier Florida, I had a Bait and Tackle shop on US 1 highway. A young man of probably 30 with long stringy hair and eyes that looked like red spots with blue spots in the middle of them stuck a .38 Smith and Wesson revolver in my face and said: Gimme your money you fat sob or I'll blow your effing face off!

Of course I gave him everything in the register, but, I, from only 6 inches away from the barrel of his revolver could see 2 slits of light on either side of the barrel and I just knew there "might" be a bullet under the hammer and another one out of sight at the bottom of the pistol, but, for all the danger, I HAD to see if the hammer was back. It wasn't. So I said, " you DO want the bank out of this drawer don't you??" And he said, YES, I want it all!

Up came my Colt .45 caliber automatic and BLAM BLAM I shot him twice. The first one went thru his chest and a lung, but THAT wasn't the worst one. I overcompensated on the second shot and the second one got him in the base of his tailbone Paralyzing him from the waist down for life.

So I just don't need anything like that again. I will just hope the kid leaves me alone. :(

Moral to this story is-----don't mess with an ex marine!
Before the self righteous cries of outrage begin, put yourselves in Skip's place and ask what you would do. There is, clearly, a mentally unbalanced man pointing a loaded handgun in your face and demanding your day's takings. You are, through weapons handling and military training, aware he has not the time to fire rapidly and you have the means of defence handy, also you are not sure he mightn't shoot you just for the hell of it. Odds on, he was high on a drug that he NEEDED badly and nobody was going to stop him getting the next hit! Civilians are not allowed the use of tazers ( which, incidentally have proved fatal on the odd occasion--2 deaths in Australia so far) and they are unwieldy and blocky, more suited to deliberate use in lieu of a police sidearm. This man now has a long life in a wheelchair to contemplate his stupidity.

I was out all sat afternoon in black pantyhose ( OF COURSE I shaved my legs for that silky smooth look!!!) and a short plaid schoolgirl mini skirt with nice [redacted] clogs. Good several compliments from women on my legs. It was so much fun!

went to all the busy malls and grocery stores etc..... LOL They were handing out candy at the mall and the ladies there told me the candy was for kids, but since I have such nice legs, I could have some if I wanted! w00t :P

Halloween is a great time because you can get away with stuff that wouldn't work the rest of the year. I have been thinking about a good costume already; it will definitely involve a skirt or dress, and probably one too short to wear in more "normal" settings. There are several really cool parties in town that I have been to before; its a matter of deciding what costume will be best for which party.
