Did the schoolkids ever look up from their phones? Kids normally have their eyes glued to them. There could be an alien invasion around them and they would never notice unless the signal ceased! Don't sweat it. I've been skirted around teenagers and they haven't taken the slightest bit of notice. I went for a lakeside walk tonight in a dress. Black nylon interior, black large floral mesh overlay, 3/4 mesh sleeves and a mini of Dan proportions. Mid thigh at the longest and a skater skirt. I could feel the sway of the hem against my legs which the breeze kept accentuating. The cool of the night air against my thighs. I could wear that dress all day! It was great, it was bliss. Pity it was MOH's! I was trying out one or two of her dresses whilst she is at work. I'm getting a little more comfortable about dresses now although if MOH won't accept skirts she'll accept dresses even less. Shame.

Yes, and used those phones to take photos of me :blue: The laughter was the worst part, along with the name calling. Because of the knife crime, you dare not challenge them, so I felt vulnerable. The girls were worse than the boys. It makes me think about not using public transport if I run a risk to my safety.

I have flown several times while skirted, I have taken trains on long journeys while skirted, I used to be nervous but never had any adverse comments. While walking through both Glasgow and London I have had more comments/questions while wearing a kilt than when skirted.
Being around 6 foot 3 inches tall and fairly heavily built and with my own mental barriers, I have always opted for more "masculine" style skirts, denim cargo style, sometimes ankle length, sometimes knee length or somewhere inbetween. I feel more confident in public wearing clothes like that, it helps, if you feel confident you look less nervous and people tend to leave you alone more.

That's what works for me, I love the feel of a swirly wafty skirt but can't talk myself into wearing one in a busy public place, so I wear heavier, more boring but practical skirts. Also I have never worn any jewelry, or make-up, don't think I ever will. That's just me!

If you are having problems, feeling nervous and end up being picked on by the less open minded, why not try setting your sights a little lower until your confidence increases? Just a thought from someone who really doesn't know how people work! Speaking as an outsider, I don't really understand the human race!

new2skirts, are you based in the UK? I live in York and I've been going around in skirts for a year or two now and have never had much of an adverse reaction. I've even talked with curious youffs that I've met on my walks around my local lakes. I think that they were initially in it for the mickey but after a short discussion they could see the logic. If I meet them now they just offer a cheery hello. Don't take the scoffing of the young un's to heart. Just shows what closed minds they have. In a group they can have a tendency to egg each other on. Confidence and remember that you are showing bigger RSO's than they ever will. I bet the girls were wearing trousers too!

Hi N2S
You have pretty well come to the right place.
Just lean back awhile and let the world go right on by. Try to relax, be cool and any other cliché that springs to mind too.
Above all be happy within your own skin at your own pace.
Steve.
