:D
I believe that a number of people were interested in trying the forbidden when they were boys...but kept their interest to themselves.

No good reason why men should prefer dull clothing, though one might get that impression from the usual drab garb.

Victor,

I am in Islington and often ride the Overground to Kew Gardens (one stop short of Richmond for those who don't know the area). I was there last weekend skirted and photographing the flowers on a gorgeous day, and had a great time. The following day I was in Greenwich to see the Cutty Sark, the Greenwich observatory, and the Naval Meuseum skirted and had a great time even though the weather was not as nice. This weekend I walked all over the downtown area skirted and no issues. The truth is 97% of people don't even notice, and the other 3% either smile or have a puzzled look. I always reciprocate smiles with smiles, and quizzical looks with smiles too.

The best of luck in your skirted endeavors.
Chris

Welcome Victor,

I do agree with your concept of bloke in a skirt. Enjoy your small steps and welcome to Skirtcafe!

Take care,

Martin

Looking great, victor1964! I love hiking in utility kilts.

Did you meet anyone else along the way? And if so, how did that go?

Remarkable, isn't it?

An amazing number of people are just busy with their own activities and never notice. And those who do notice usually don't care. You see a half second of surprise and than an, "Oh well." Another group will like it, and some of those will give you a smile, and some will even say, "I like your skirt (or kilt)." A tiny percentage won't like it but the worst you get is a glare or a frown. And that happens no matter what you wear. As the saying goes, you can't please all the people all the time.

Have fun with it!

Looking good. Skirts just become normal after a while and trousers uncomfortable. Go out often and your wife will loose her nervousness.
Regard skirt wearing as 90% comfort and 10% up yours to the world!!

What you said above will quite possibly apply to many men who wear skirts although I am sure some will not have. I am one which did conform to society expectations of male attire.

Welcome to skirtcafe. I have periods of absence from this forum and often when on do not scan to far back on all threads due to time.

You are right to take skirt wearing in public steady if that is more comfortable for you and your wife. Great to see another supporting partner. My wife is as well. We are all different and tackle things different even if aim for the same goal. You will find that you do not have direct public reaction. Yes a small minority spread over many areas and time will make it known they find you amusing or odd but then they do that to others. Nobody is perfect in the eyes of others. The fact that you have decided to wear skirts and in public shows you are comfortable with yourself. Just go out and about with confidence and feeling at ease at all times. You wil then portray that to others that you are content. Just do so at your time and preference.

For me, I went public about 6 years ago having worn skirts privately for a good 12 years previously. Prior to that just thoughts. Yes I was suppressed by socities attitude and expectations towards men and myself as a man. That was until I decided enough. I wear skirts all year round and in all aspects of my life unless the situation makes trousers more suitable and there are not many. Once I went public, for me I embraced it head on.

I do not wear kilts or utilitikilts. From your description I am a bit more feminine for you but I do not see it as such. It is ones perception. I will wear tights in winter and I do wear skirts society still labels as womens wear, including scarfs, and cardigans. I remain with mens coats and footwear. I do not post pictures on this forum, I have my own site which I push where I can which has pictures. I have in these last 6 years been to London a few times as a tourist, using tubes and visiting the tourist spots. Likewise other cities. I do all my socialising in a skirt, including theater and pub meals. I visit doctors, hospitals, dentist and have done the occassional fell walk in a skirt. Just as many engage with me as when I am a traditional dressed male. I am even a NT volunteer and head up a team of volunteers and they have never seen me in traditional male attire. I am in my preferred attire as much as possible, usually fell walking, most of my serious DIY and my casual gardening services the exception.

In time you will be the same. Confidence and noting 99.9% of society are not bothered even if privately think you are odd, your preferred attire will be as automatic as driving compared to when you first started to drive.

Good luck. No doubt will see your posts from time to time.
