Christmas Greeting 2021

Post by Kirbstone »

Thought I'd submit this.

Here's to all of you who like to raise a glass to friends & family at this time. It's been tough for us, but here's to that light at the end of the Covid tunnel.

Whatever holidays you celebrate, make them memorable and worthwhile!

If the creek don't rise (or the sky fall down) I'll spend Christmas on a train heading away from the sleet and the slush that I New England winter now.

Merry Christmas to you too Kirbstone (and everyone else here too) from us downunder at the bottom of the globe, where we are celebrating a summer christmas (it was 34°C here today).

We too, are hoping for an end to these covid problems, something that unfortunately is not being let go of by those in government.

Hoping for a much better 2022.

Tim.

"twas the night before Christmas, when thro' the world
some children were nestled in their beds, some were not;
while vision of sugar plums and bucks flew thru Amazon and Citi bank
Inequality had settled in our landscape;
A call for equality and kindness arose,
Let's pray it is heard!

May the Christmas message impact us all, and to all a good life.
Keep your skirts on guys, it is a tiny bit of the path to a better world.

Merry Christmas Tom, and of course to all at Skirt Café. I'll definitely be raising a glass (or two).... I believe cask strength works best against Covid ;-)

Merry Christmas to all at the Cafe. Thank you all for your long distance advice, friendship and support. You have inspired me and gave me confidence in extending my wardrobe beyond mere skirts. I still have a long way to go on this road and I am consolidating my own sense of style. Thank you and may the next year be better than this last one.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Greetings to all on this, one of the darkest days of the year and one of the reasons we celebrate way we do with a "festival of lights". It helps us psychologically get through the "dark times". (Historical record strongly hints that the Christ Child was actually born in the spring.)

Best wishes for the coming year, and may it be free from frustration, sorrow, and angst. Sadly, we will not be rid of the SARS virus any time soon, although that's one of my fondest wishes.

If all goes to plan, at this time tomorrow the clacking of steel wheel atop trackwork in the busy Northeast Corridor will be a thing of the past and I'll be instead listening to the sing of steel wheel on steel ribbon-rail on my way down South where the days will be longer, the temperatures warmer and with a threat that beach-towels are already being made ready. (I had to adjust my packing to accommodate that.)

To directly quote Greg Lake's beautiful piece, I Believe in Father Christmas [1] because I can think of no better benediction possible, "I wish you a hopeful Christmas, I wish you a brave New Year // All anguish, pain, and sadness leave your heart and let your road be clear."

[1] Also how the Russians got their toes into the door of Western Christmas. The interludes in the piece (true to ELP form) are lifted directly from Prokofiev's Lientenant Kejay Suite in a short piece called "Troika" that describes a rollicking sleigh ride behind a three-horse-drawn (hence "troika") sleigh.
