Finding an El Kommando Kilt

Post by Nolyn »

Hello Guys,

It’s been awhile since I’ve logged in. Nice to log in and look around.

I have a question for you all: Do any of you know where I can find some of the El Kommando kilts? They were marketed by Mountain Hardwear, but discontinued.

I’ve tried looking in Amazon and eBay too, but no luck.

Any ideas?

I haven't seen Mountain Hardware sell them for the last couple of years. Unless someone makes a Chinese knock off, your only hope is to add it to your wish list on ebay.

Discontinued 2010, unfortunately. Found one on ebay, but it was wishlisted forever before it happened. *If* you can get one, they're amazing. Mine's worn 3-4 times a week for hiking or morning walks. Recently looking for something comparable as a backup.
My notes, and the links.

UT Kilts - "The Athlete" - polyester/spandex
DNKE - techlite rogue - 50/50 cotton polyester ripstop
LightHeart Gear - Hiking Skirt with Pockets
Purple Rain Adventure Skirts - Adventure Kilt

I've got a couple, and I too, am disappointed that they were discontinued. Not the best kilt for sitting, but for hiking they are great!

I'm looking at those links and eyeing a few things. Thank you for those.

Always keeping a lookout for another one as backup. Really like the look and feel. Excited to see this one posted on eBay. Lost interest when it went over $120. Laughed when it went over $200. Jaw dropped when it sold for $256.

Someone should let the company know they are still in demand…

Coder,
Great idea. Did it yesterday. Apparently Mtn Hardwear does not like emails. Customer service via online chat. Shared the details, the rep promised to relay info to marketing department. The Elkommando was and is a great idea, just a little ahead of its time. D'C'd in 2010. A decade later, 2021, there's a lot more interest and acceptance.

Layne,
XL, charcoal color.

I’ve owned two. Both were mediums though and I’ve become a large.

I have two Mountain Hardware kilts but they aren't the El Kommando ones .. Still love them though even if they are at least ten years old I'd say . They are just called Mountain Kilts and are khaki .. They have lasted extremely well , very minor tiny holes despite being washed countless times and hiked in so many times in some tough places . Easy to wash and dry in no time ..literally drip dry . It astounds me that they discontinued their kilts but I believe they have .. Have a look on EBAY or similar and you never know what you might find ..Hope you get one ..they truly are great ..Cheers
