5.11 kilts

Post by kiltguy1789 »

I saw an item in a police site that the 5.11 kilts are coming back! No details about when or what patterns/colors, but keep an eye out for them. :D

Last year I spoke with our local "5.11 Store" manager about the "Tactical Kilt".
He advised me that they only come out in the Spring(U.S.) and in limited quantities.

Keep your eyes open for them :D

I have several, and I have to agree, they are great! Lightweight, with a flat panel in the back instead of pleats. Easily the lightest weight and most compact packing utility kilt type thing I've found. Quality construction, and very good summer wear, though the material doesn't breathe as well as I'd like. It's a rip-stop nylon blend with a strain resistant treatment that makes it slightly water repellant. They also don't fall between your legs in the front when sitting as well as a Utilikilt, but what does? And they are a fraction of the price...

If the 5.11 kilts do come back, I'd like another one.

I bought a 5.11 kilt several years ago and ended up returning it. Probably because it was waaaay too long.

So, when I got the email from 5.11 a few weeks ago that this year’s issue was available, I bought 2. One in each color. I thought I would try again and see if they were any different.

It is still way too long. Right about 24 inches. I am going to keep both of them and like OldSalt, have them shortened.
It’s a really lightweight kilt, so it should be good for warm days. (If we ever get to go outside again)!!! Oh, and I really like how the side cargo pockets can be detached.

Maybe next year they will have different colors to choose from.

I just went to the site with a link I have and it says page not found.

So, they are Sold out!!!

Last time I looked, a day or so ago, only sizes available were 28 and 30.

I missed it a few years as I didn’t look in time. It comes out first week in April. This year, because I am a customer, they sent an email saying it was available. My experience is that they sell out in a few days. At least for the more popular sizes.

Perhaps you can call them in case of any returns.

If you aren’t familiar, they started it some years ago as an April fool’s joke. And it sold out almost instantly. So they do it every April with a limited quantity.

How can that be described as a Kilt?

Yes, I know it is a marketing thing and an excuse to wear a skirt with less fear of derision, but why not just call it a cargo / utility skirt, which is what it actually is?

There are plenty decent utility skirts on the market for a much lower price too.

A KILT is a Man's skirt fit for bravehearts and not so bravehearts -
It is just a step across the aisle to wear that other kind of kilt (skirt) -
One's body type does help define how a skirt fits -
Some better and then some well why go into detail -

It is clothing - get over clothing having a gender attachment
Years ago women absconded with de pants -
There are Kilts for women - aka kilted skirt -

We came out of the ancient age -

now entering the age of Global Warming -
The "?" will we need more or less clothing on our way to hell ?
