Over the weekend Off Kilter Kilts opened in Pasadena, CA.

"The largest brand names in kilts and kilt accessories will be available at Off Kilter Kilts, including Sport Kilt, Utilikilts, Damn Near Kilt 'Em, and others. A wide variety of the world’s best kilts is available to meet any kilting needs. From heavy-duty utility kilts to traditional heritage kilts and modern-day tartans, there is a kilt for every occasion and style. Custom orders are also available, with an assortment of add-ons and customizations possible to ensure every customer gets the best kilt for them."

More info: http://www.offkilterkilts.com. Not the greatest website, but still...wishing them many prosperous years.

Anyone in the Pasadena area that can check them out and provide more info?

I find it encouraging that someone thinks there is enough business for such a shop. I hope they do well.

Hello! Thank you for the well wishes. I found the board through a regular Google search for mentions of the store. We're excited to give the multi-brand kilt store a try. Any Skirt Cafe community members who find themselves in LA are welcome and encouraged to stop by. Sorry about the website - we're still in development on that part. For those interested, up-to-date information can be found on www.facebook.com/offkilterkilts.

I look forward to joining this community and meeting those of you who are local!

Good golly that is great news - a sort of one stop shopping for kilts and accessories.

J.T. are you going to be a sales outlet for SportKilt and/or working directly with them for custom kilted applications ?
I have bought over a dozen of their kilts and I am at that stage where the plain ole jane kilt just needs more custom
work to strut the peacock (colors and contrast detailing).
Seeking to venture into leather kilts - are you doing these also ?
Looking forward to a trip to LAX to check out both venues although you are what appears to be about 30 miles apart.
SportKilt - Signal Hill (Long Beach) and you in Pasadena - certainly a days trip by covered wagon on the Camino Real ! LOL !
Aye remember that the monks of the missions wore skirted (well robed) gear.

Glad you are here !

We are an authorized retailer for Sport Kilt! We carry a hearty selection of their tartans, and can fill custom orders within about a week (if you want to add fringe, buckles, pockets, etc.). You'll get about the same timing from them directly.

Leather kilts are still fairly rare in the industry. Utilikilts will make one, but you'll need to come in a get measured. Since they are done entirely by special order, the production time is less exact. I have not heard of any other brands venturing into leather, but I'm keeping my ears open.

Alt.kilt will see you up a leather kilt but as you're no doubt aware, leather is no economy fabric.

Aye I was aware of that - same price range as a full tank kilt from the old country !

There is a Pakistani kilt source through Etsy that will make less expensive leather kilts. Just be sure you order two sizes or more larger than you should actually wear.

Good luck with the new shop. I'm in the UK so unlikely to visit any time soon although!

I wish you every success in the new venture!

J.T., Best wishes for much success with your retail venture! I'm on the East Coast so it may be a bit before I step in the store but I'll keep an eye on the website, Facebook, Twitter, and here for the right chance to order something from you.
