Some questions and a warning...

Post by Don »

At the end of last July, I ordered a modern Kilt from got-kilt (http://www.got-kilt.com). I ordered a 24" length, which had to be manufactured, adding to the delivery time. At the end of august, I inquired as to the status of my kilt. They replied, explaining about the special order delay, but told me that my kilt was made and in their outbount queue which was fine.

The weeks rolled on to the present, and my kilt still has not been delivered! I have made numerous e-mails and phone queries, but this vendor DOES NOT reply to e-mails and DOES NOT return phone calls. This is very frustrating.

I am hoping that got-kilts actually READS this forum. As much as I hate to to use a public forum to light a fire under him, it appears there's no other way. My message to him would go something like "This is the PITS, guys! I liked your product ALOT as it was described on the website. I still want one! I understand production SNAFUs, shipping delays, and I am in no real hurry. What I can't understand is your unwillingness to respond to queries, which is a telltale sign of a REALLY SLOPPY outfit, and generally one that won't be around a long time (if it hasn't already vanished in the night)".

A question: Do any of you kiltsmen out there have any experience with this outfit? Are they usually very unreliable? Can anyone out there tell me how I might get their attention?

And finally A WARNING: CAVEAT EMPTOR, ye skirted brethren! Be vary wary when considering ordering from this vendor. You might consider making your order COD!!!...

Don,
Presumably you paid by credit card or PayPal or similar. Then following non-delivery you can claim your money back through the credit card company.

I think at times you need to give these small companies the benifit of the doubt, remembering that they are like brothers to us and helping us further our cause. As an operations manager myself I can tell you that things are not always as they seem and customers quickly get hot headed for no reason. If you are having trouble contacting them, then try their face book and send a private message.

Now that is one darn neat kilt !
Contrasting front apron and side pockets and then your own chain accessories really set this off remarkably !
Congrats on your custom arrangement !

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

That look rocks! And you did a positively masterful job with the colours. Full marks!

Hi Ron,

Very cool! I like how the colors match quite well. I'd like to get a shirt like that. Is there a name for that style?

they are commonly called a Jacobite shirt,
you can find them on E-Bay and other places on the 'net

Fine kilt, Ron. The tartan looks like Irish Heritage. I perused the Got Kilt site and didn't come across where such a special kilt could be ordered. Their on-line ordering facility is down at the moment, anyway.
Problem for us on this side of the Pond is the post costs to be added to the price.

Both kilts look excellent and what a look you have! Unforgettable!

(In a good way!)

I am well impressed, the kilts are similar in colour to mine, but mine are just traditional Scottish kilts without modern add-ons like pockets.
