Messy Nessy: Men Wore Corsets, History Says
Another article bringing light to, well, how mens fashion has changed over the years. Am I advocating corsets? Heck no! Just adding another link to yet another article that talks about how mens fashion had changed/evolved over time. It's actually quite interesting as the author talks about fashion in general.

Many still do; they're known now as back-braces for supporting proper posture.

In this neck of the woods they would have been called "Stays" but pronounced Styes as in a pig pen.
I guess that was because they kept everything contained. I'd also surmise that the wearers, men or women, would have occupied a certain status in life.
Not for the revolting peasants at any rate.
Steve.

I noticed in one of the illustrations that the chest/waist/hip measurements were 36/24/36 the perennial measurements ( maybe outdated now ) for the female figure. I have some pairs of my wife's panty-girdles which no longer fit her and just barely fit me. I don't wear them very often as they aren't particularly comfortable to wear. I can imagine that a proper girdle would be agony. Not for me, there are enough uncomfortable articles of clothing without adding another.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

There are documented case of organ displacement caused by corsets.
However, no fatalities that I saw but discomfort may be a gross understatement.
Surely we have progressed enough that it is reasonable to expect to be comfortably clothed.
Or is this another example of suffering for one's art?
Steve.

I've never owned a corset myself, and see now reason to invest in one either. I use a body briefer to smooth my profile (comes in handy when I wear some dress styles) and that's enough for me.
I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.

I have worn a kidney belt ealier in my life when I rode old motorcycles - to prevent said organs from bruising.from engine vibration and little or no rear suspension.
