Excellent article, I even like how the author admits it’s basically a skirt but doesn’t take it in a bad direction.

His outfit begs the question: at what length does a kilt become a skirt? I presume there is some unofficial standard? I’m just not into kilts, but my general impression is that they are knee length or above?

We have been here before and that is definitely a skirt or even a kilted skirt even.
However, remember that all kilts are skirts anyway.
Confused, you will be?
Anyway the guy looks comfortable enough so good for him.
Steve.

The jacket says its cold out there -- so the length seems fitting; the look is good; he appears comfortable and confident & has his mask on. 100% in my book. Article a bit "couture -ish" in my book, but sounding all the right notes for MIS.

Hi Vige,
Just a question, why do you think this is insane?

Agreed on the article. Also, the author notes a number of other examples of celebrity skirting of which I was unaware.

For kilts, knee length is standard, but masculine skirts get called "kilts" a fair amount just because men are wearing them. The word "kilt" I'm told originally referred to the pleats, however, not the whole garment. Though I have even seen non-pleated garments referred to as kilts.

The "traditional" kilt is specifically knee length, wrap around, made from woven wool in a tartan (plaid) pattern, with the pleats in the back only, overlapping front panels, and worn with a long list of prescribed accessories. Anything else is likely to be called out by purists as "not a real kilt." (By this definition, I've never worn a "real kilt," just FYI.)

So this is far from a traditional kilt, but honestly that is probably a good thing in my mind. The sooner various skirts and garments other than then "traditional kilt" catch on for men, the better.

The socks cover up his tattoo's.
Maybe that's why he wore them.

I should have indicated my comment was written tongue-in-cheek. Don't get me wrong - I don't like the look - but we all have our styles.
