shondalanda / A Modest Proposal: Wear Whatever the Hell You Want

Written for women, but honestly would apply to any of us.
https://www.shondaland.com/live/style/a ... -you-want/
So I am here to let you in on a secret: There are no actual experts. No one knows what it is you should be wearing — not the fashion police bullies, not the rule-makers, not the writers of mad-at-pants manifestos. And I am here, many paragraphs into this long-ass rant about style shaming, with a modest proposal: Wear whatever the hell you want, whenever you damn want.

Another one in the same vein:

I found these articles in the top google results for the search query: “wear what you want”.

I really like the last statement of the second article:
Wear whatever makes you feel amazing, not what makes other people comfortable.
It’s not your responsibility to babysit the egos of others.
Quite true

Did you see some of the links referenced in the "Wear whatever" article? Pretty discouraging, like this one that mocks women for wearing puffy coats that are more comfortable/functional than fashionable:
https://newrepublic.com/article/140551/caterpillar-coat
If I could find a knee-length (or longer!) coat like that in my size and price range, I'd cocoon myself up in it and never take it off.
