For some reason the headline reminded me of the headlines proclaiming "This is the year of the Linux desktop" which I've been seeing for at least 10 years. Yeah, a slight bump in social acceptance from 1.4% to 1.6% isn't an earth-shaking disruption. Wake me when 20 to 40% of mainstream media features men in skirts on a regular basis that make no more a big deal out of it than they do men wearing earrings or women wearing shirts tailored for men.
Don't get me wrong, I do agree the world is changing. I just don't expect to see a marked difference in cultural attitudes while I'm alive on this planet.

The article is a rehash of something that was originally written in GQ. The Hornet article does reference the original GQ text. If you read the original it is more interesting and detailed with several links to go and explore.
