Hmm. Most of the "women" look more butch than Jaden does. From a personal perspective, I don't really see how this dovetails into getting skirts accepted on men; in fact, from the look portrayed, I'd not be surprised one bit to hear that Jaden will be undergoing SRS in a couple of years' time.

On another note, do you suppose the blasted "Fashion Industry" will ever start marketing to people who actually look like people instead of stick-figures?

The first female model was anorexic, if ever anyone was. Still, for me, someone who battles weight, it is a cruel irony for Carl to call someone a "stick-figure"... Just kidding, Carl.

We already have an example of this...Andre Pejic, Male model underwent SRS recently and is now known as Andrea Pejic. I wasn't at all surprised at this. 'She' is as thin as a matchstick and is in her early twenties.

That's a tad harsh coming from a man who wears skirts, Carl. I can see the difference between a man putting a skirt on and man wearing women's clothing. But in this case it seems more likely to me to be a case of an advertiser coming up with an unusual way to get some publicity.

There's precedent in the comment, and I offer up the photo that Kirbstone put up a few posts ago of A. (Neither "Andre" nor "Andrea" -- just simply "A.") Pejic who recently (or thereabouts) underwent SRS from a similarly-slotted role in modelling.

I can see the difference between a man putting a skirt on and man wearing women's clothing. But in this case it seems more likely to me to be a case of an advertiser coming up with an unusual way to get some publicity.

I rather doubt that the likes of Louis Vuitton needs "unusual publicity"; the name alone says more than any single photo (or spread) can.

I understand the problem with weight fairly well having had problems controlling my own not too long ago, and also from having some heavy folks in my inner circle of friends. I may be rail-thin, but I'm not so low that I'm unhealthy from it; I got close not too long ago (down into the upper 150 pound range) but that's coming back up now nicely as most of the stressors have disappeared. I've never been heavy, but know plenty who are/have been, and the trials that they go through -- which is something I'd not wish on anybody.

What I tend to rail about is the enshrinement of the anorexic look to the exclusion of body-types that are actually a lot more natural and healthy. Adult women are not supposed to be stick-figures with all the padding and curves of a 13-year-old boy. I look at modern fashion shoots and sometimes wonder if I'm looking at something that borders on "kiddie-porn". Is this really where we want to be as a society?

Hmmm. We'll have to watch this one. A year or two ago, a Scottish education chief said boys in school should be allowed to wear skirts because it would facilitate those who were transgender. Aargh!! What he should have said was boys in school should be allowed to wear skirts because boys can wear skirts (just as girls can wear trousers).

The narrative used to be MAN + SKIRT = CROSSDRESSER

We need to make sure it doesn't translate into MAN + SKIRT = TRANS

The narrative we need to promote is MAN + SKIRT = MAN IN SKIRT

I'm with Stu on this one. The combination of "man + skirt = man in skirt" is the association that should be forwarded, not "man + skirt = somehow less than man". It may be a futile fight, though, as the other approach tends to be a lot louder and more shrill than the quiet statement that a man makes when he wears a skirt with no subtext behind it.

I'm beginning to tire of having to explain myself. No, I'm not "trans". No, I'm not "transitioning". No, I'm not homosexual. Yes, I'm married (or at least was). Look, there is no subtext, I just happen to like skirts. I had to go through that dance last night when I was out at one of my old haunts, ran into somebody new, and it took a while for him to get past my appearance; once that was done, however, we had a delightful conversation and the matter was likely forgotten. It shouldn't be that difficult.
