Quoting trick

Just wanted to share a neat little trick on how to quote comments with their name (as opposed to just using the blank "Quote" button in the bar)

Below the text box where you type your entry is a little box you can scroll within and review the thread. You will notice a "quote" button at the top of every entry. Simply highlight what you want to quote and hit the "Quote" button at the top of the said entry and it will quote it accurately in the text box complete with author's name!

Pretty handy.

Some of you may be like.... DUH!!! Well, I didn't realize it until today. And I've been commenting on php boards for years. Learn something new every day! :)

And all this time I've been carefully cutting and pasting the beginning and ending quote markers around whatever I wanted to quote.

For extra-fancy quoting, one can even put arbitrary text in the quote argument:

Code: Select all

[quote="Master Foo, as reported by slanderous reporters,"]
Bar
[/quote]
Which will appear as:
Master Foo, as reported by slanderous reporters, wrote: Bar
Of course, the touch typist might even note that the quote tags (and the rest of them, for that matter), are words enclosed in square brackets, and it may be easier to type them than to reach for the mouse to enter them that way.
