Are you a Pessimist or Optimist?

Post by Uncle Al »

We worry to much about what other people think.

I doesn't matter what other people think.
They don't know me or what I've been through.

I quit worrying about what others think,
because I found out they don't think!

I am an optimist. To be an optimist one has to be pragmatic and accept reality; optimist does not mean fantasist.

In my experience those describing themselves as realists are pessimists in denial.

I am an engineer, which makes me a professional pessimist.  To have joined the engineering profession in the first place I must have been a näive optimist.

I am an optimist, but pragmatic. Due to my previous work training I look for what could go wrong to be prepared for evasive action.

Being optimistic simply means having a positive outlook on the world. That's it. It has nothing to do with pragmatism or accepting reality as it is.

I am an Architect, thus an optimist and am familiar with the disposition of engineers :)
You must be an optimist to wear a skirt though.

Anyone who has to work with an optimist will become a pessimist.

Not really.  At every stage of experimenting with skirts I made sure I had a get-out in case things went wrong.  Even though I now wear skirts most of the time I still keep spare clothing handy in case the elastic snaps or my skirt gets torn or soaked.

Cautiously optimistic. My optimism is tempered by a realistic streak.

Depending on my mood I'm either an optimistic pessimist or a pessimistic optimist.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Mild pessimist. It helps me from getting unhappy when things go wrong (as they usually do, from experience).

"Or" -- an incredibly dangerous word; as normally used it implies either/or with no alternatives -- language as dangerous as a loaded gun to stifle thinking.
