How to trigger everyone at once

A nonbinary guy, in a imitation velvet dress, top doesn't match, short hair, cooking pork bacon, on a Sunday, at 10:28 in the morning, during Covid shutdowns, no mask, on a gas stove, purchased with Donald Trump's stimulus money....

I am the greatest abomination that ever lived!

Yeah, that seems to be the common GE model I see in Lowes. It's a good stove, I've had it for a couple of years now and I love it!
Though I do recommend replacing the Teflon center section with the cast iron griddle accessory. You'll note it has a flat griddle side and a ribbed grill side. We've used it a lot for grilling hamburgers... I also recommend a good strong hood. (The hood in the photo wasn't sufficient and it would later be removed for a more powerful one).

If anyone wants to go gas, or is planning on replacing a gas stove with another gas stove in the future, you may want to get your order in as I hear tell they're about to go the way of the dinosaur due to government regulations... because you know... it's not like there are more important things to worry about right now.

Additionally, appliances are skyrocketing in price. I paid $450 for my stove in 2020. I noticed that exact same model is "on sale" for a cool $950 today.

They say electric induction is the way to go. And you know what... it probably is... but I don't care, I love my gas range. Cooking on an open flame just seems to have more soul.

And I don't care what ANYONE says, the gas oven underneath produces superior baking results. I believe it may be due to the moisture released when propane burns. I don't really know why, but literally everything I bake in that oven comes out testing better with better texture. You won't get that with an electric element.

The only downside is the range really heats up the kitchen when in use, so in the summer time it can get pretty hot in the kitchen. But as they say, "if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen".

Looks like the same bacon I've been eating all my life. I'm now curious what yours looks like. I googled "Australian beacon" and all I get is photos of amber lights and lighthouses.... :?

...

So anyway, I guess everyone gets the joke... It just goes to show, no matter what you do, there's a lobby trying to ban it it seems...

I saw in New York certain laundry detergents are banned. They've banned Whip cream and are also banning gas stoves. Interesting 🤔.

At least it wasn't a Friday and I have never used a mask with a gas stove even though it gets a bit smelly when the gas bottle is about to run out.
Your top doesn't have to be a match if your stove is self igniting.
I also like my gas stove and it is a metaphorical dinosaur being about 80 years old.

I won't jump into the gas stove debate, but I gutted and rebuilt our kitchen myself this summer and switched over to an induction range and it's wonderful. It has the near-instant heat control like gas and is more energy efficient than the previous electric range that was here.

There is nothing like bacon and eggs fried on a gas stove to start the day off right.
I have had gas stoves when growing up as electric were not liked very much, The gas stove I have now I have had for over 30+ years and when it quits I will replace it with a new gas stove.

We have induction hobs powered by solar panels. The ovens are also electric.

Gas was great, but it’s a fossil fuel. Best left in the ground to help avoid the worst excesses of climate change / pollution.

I grew up with gas, and had gas in many of the rentals I've lived in. It is very even heat, both on top and in the oven. Currently renting with an electric, and I hate it. Takes forever to heat up and cool down.
Several local towns around me are banning gas. Stupidest thing I've heard. I guess these tree huggers have no idea where electricity comes from, other than the plug in the wall. And our grid is reaching the breaking point. So let load it up some more. so when the lights go out, I can still eat from my GAS STOVE!

Mine comes mostly from the roof, with a big slug of power coming from renewables.

As it should be.

You need to get induction stove then. They can pump out way more heat than a gas stove. It's amusing put a pan of water on the stove and seeing the bubbles form straight away. A 9kW induction stove heats faster than just about any gas cooker you can find.

(Though I understand it's a bit harder with the weak power in US homes. Here 3x25A @230V is standard, which gives you 400V of 3-fase power, which you need to run a 9kW induction stove.)

I have a 250 gallon propane tank sitting outside. Last spring when I turned off the gas heater for the last time of the season, it was sitting at around 25% By the time I filled it up in August, it was around 19%

I don't think gas ranges really contribute all that much to the climate change problem. 2/3's of the population don't even use them.

Furthermore, when I switched from my older electric range to gas, the following month I noticed my electric bill didn't really decrease by any significant amount. So I don't think the electric was really contributing much to the climate change problem either.

Now that it's been a couple of years, my electric bill has climbed to an amount much higher than anything I ever had running on all electric appliances and heating.

Last month's bill was $153 for about 947kwh. That may not sound like a lot for a winter time bill, but consider that my house has ZERO sources of electric [hvac] heating. I'd say most of that kwh usages is from the clothes dryer and electric water heater. Folks that actually have electric heat pumps elsewhere in Appalachian Power's service area are seeing monthly electric bills over $600-$700 in some cases.

When I moved into this house five years ago, my usage from winter was about the same (around 950khw) and I recall bills that were around $80.

Last summer for the first time ever my electric bill surpassed $200 in August. It's enough where we're considering not even installing the big air conditioner this upcoming season and just putting the smaller one in the bedroom and keeping the door closed. Thus, most of the house would be without air conditioning. Also we plan to use the clothes line a LOT more this year, weather permitting.

And you know what Ray... I don't have a problem doing my part to help save the world for future generations. My issue is this:

Why do politicians.. including the ones that make these policies refuse to "walk the walk"?

Google major politicians house (including Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden). Tell me they don't have a carbon footprint. They probably have CLOSETS that are bigger than my entire house!

When we had that cold snap last Christmas, TVA (a federally owned [socialist] electrical provider) instituted rolling blackouts. I heard that Appalachian Power came close. Somehow I can see Biden smirking at the thought of Marsha Blackburn's power being shut off on Christmas day, and don't get me wrong, I'd probably enjoy screwing with that b!tch's lights too, but I seriously doubt Biden was sitting in the dark on Christmas day.

Political jokes aside, that incident changed my tune somewhat. That was about three days of temps near zero degrees, in a state [Tennessee] where many people still burn wood, natural gas, propane, etc, for heat, and yet the TVA power system couldn't keep up with demand. Right wing pundits posed the question: "How are we going to manage the grid when everyone is charging electric batteries for cars?".

Good question.

APCO never rolled a blackout on my address, but had they had done so, I would have at least had heat, as my propane gas heater requires no electricity to operate (it doesn't even plug into the wall), and though we wouldn't have use of the oven due to the safety igniter and gas valve being electric, we could have at least lit the range top with a match and cook food with pots and pans.

So, unless they do something to make the grid more reliable, I want to see our "leaders" [rulers sounds more like it] do their part and get down in the trenches with us common peasantry and sit in the dark on Christmas day watching their pipes freeze up. I won't hold my breath either way.

I think many Americans [0] (myself included) want to do the right thing, but we're getting tired of watching people in power pass all these laws and regulations while they themselves do not have to abide. It's a double standard. And it's not right. We're just as human as they are, and vice versa. If we're a government by the people, of the people, and for the people, then why do those who are elected to run this country live a life of luxury while the rest of us sit in the dark, freezing cold?

It's not right.

[0] edit.... Jury's still out on that. Sometimes I wonder.
