Assault on a female
I was reading a news story about that fight that happened in North Carolina in a fuel line.
The punchlines (no pun intended)
Woman is seen out of her car
Woman spits on a man in his car
Man gets out and follows woman back to her car
Man spits back at woman
Woman throws a punch
Man punches back
Woman is a charged with assault
Man is charge with "assault on a female"
Wait... hold up.... "assault on a female"?
Surely I'm misreading something, can a legal statute place more value on a woman's safety than that of a man be so BLATANTLY OBVIOUS?
A Google search of the differences reveals that yes indeed, in North Carolina, a woman's blood is legally worth more than a man's (whose blood is basically worthless).
Let's ask the laywers...

But all joking with stu aside, this kinda pisses me off.

Woah woah woah...
Take a closer look at that video...
1) it looks like SHE is the one cutting in line
2) SHE threw the first punch BUT look at the man's reaction HE is just blocking her attack, SHE goes so far as to practically pull his shirt off..
DAMN HE'S LUCKY SOMEONE CAUGHT THAT ON CAMERA
STILL LET HE'S GONNA NEED A GOOD LAWYER.
She will walk free regardless.
You think the cops are your friends now Al, Fred?
They'll throw you to the wolves for a vagina just for the hell of it.
COPS ARE NOT OUR ALLIES

The COPS did not write the laws they can only enforce them, they can not interpret the laws either all they can is arrest you and then it is up to the courts to sort it out. Most times you will come out on the sh!tty end of the stick in the court room...moonshadow wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 7:16 pm Woah woah woah...

In practice it's a bit different. The individual plod will "enforce" the law as he understands/interprets it within the constraints of his training [1], and so long as nobody ends up dead the courts will -- maybe -- sort it out.Fred in Skirts wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 10:49 pmThe COPS did not write the laws they can only enforce them, they can not interpret the laws either all they can is arrest you and then it is up to the courts to sort it out.
Having been subject to the blunt end of that instrument in 2015 I can categorically state that "innocent until proven guilty" has been obsolete for decades.
[1] And some of the training is positively terrifying, especially around the use of firearms and restraint where the intent -- certainly with firearms -- is to kill first and nobody will ask questions later. This is not the way it is supposed to work. But it works on TeeVee, so it must be right... NOT!

Re: Assault on a female
In my experience, (and I haven't had an encounter with the law on over 10 years), I've seldom had an encounter with an officer of a law where the officer didn't come off as an arrogant prick.
I don't hate them, I don't want them to die, I hope they live long and healthy lives, but I'm just saying, when I see cops, I steer clear, I don't buy them lunches, I don't walk up to them and thank them for their services.
I'm an old school Libertarian that lives by the motto that when dealing with cops "anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law".
They are agents of the government, and the government is horrendously corrupted. I've had a few close calls where I almost got handled by a few cops showing off, one case in particular when two women were fighting and it was mentioned that I simply tried to break the two up. When it was mentioned that I did this, the cop's interest was peaked, and he reached for his sidearm and started towards me, only for one of the women to say "no no no, he didn't hit us, he was just trying to break us up", when the other woman agreed, he stood down.
No.. f--k the cops. I don't want no part of that action.
And when I have more time I can tell you stories about how USELESS they are when it comes to missing persons and certain kidnapping cases.
You're probably alright Fred, you're older and white. You hit a certain age and you get away with more. I'm still at that age where there is a big target on my back. Carl's long hair and tall stature probably puts the bulls eye on him...
AND... American police forces are socialist in nature (government ownership of a product - that product being police services that could otherwise be privatized)
So anti-socialist Republicans can feel good about disliking them too!
Oh crap.... I shouldn't give them any ideas... Governor Lee (R-TN) probably gets all excited at the thought of privatizing police services.

Yes, I have a whopping big bulls-eye on my back, part of which is from successfully defending myself in a "court of law" over the debacle of 2015. There's one town to the North I know that hates that legal decision.moonshadow wrote: ↑Wed May 12, 2021 11:42 pmYou're probably alright Fred, you're older and white. Be careful in the use of language. The overall behaviour of the modern "police" in the USA is vastly more fascist than socialist. This puts it squarely in line with right-wing "Republicans" (note that I regard both "Republicans" and "Democrats" as tools wholly owned and operated by the same paymasters).AND... Privatising policing and other entirely social functions -- which should be borne by society as a whole -- also leans towards the fascist ideal which only serves to further enrich the already rich.
Language counts. Use words wisely.

Yes, I suppose that would be a more fair assessment of the police situation in the U.S., I withdraw the [socialist] comment in this context.crfriend wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 12:09 amBe careful in the use of language. I'm actually somewhat surprised someone didn't bust my chops about that old worn out rappers line "@#$% the cops". It was not meant to be vulgar or anything of the like, but when cops stop stealing money from the citizens on the highways on America, then we can talk about how they're not legalized mobsters and thugs. Therefore, I meant it. Does it mean I'm want to be a cop killer? NO. But it does mean I view them as the enemy of the people, and hold my opinion of them thusly.
No cops are not your friend, they have license and free reign to completely destroy your life, and if you don't suck up to them in just the correct manner, that's actually what will happen.

Re: Assault on a female
Moon, I have to agree with your comments regarding the case of assault and assault on a female. Unfortunately these days, if you as a male look at a woman the wrong way, and she takes exception to that and reports it, you could be in for a world of trouble, and we know which way the courts are biased towards.
As for police not being your friends, in many places they are there to be seen to make arrests, be seen to keep order and enforce the law etc, and there's an element of statistics at play I think.
I have had one case with the local police which was more political (as in we need to be seen to help our mates and "do the right thing") which they attempted to take me to court, but on the day I found out that they dropped their charge which wasn't even a real charge according to a lawyer I spoke with, so they didn't look like idiots in the court. Why would they drop the case? very simple, there was nothing that happened, and consequently there was no actual evidence of anything happening.
My only "crime" was arguing with one of these guys (challenging them with reason) whilst intoxicated (home made rum).
They usually require that you sign a legal declaration to say that you will not take counter action against the police for wrongful arrest, mental anguish and so on, but in my case, they failed to do that. While my friend who is a lawyer flagged that, he said that while I would have a clear case against them, that doing so would attract their attention of everything you do, they'd monitor you, follow you and jump on you with everything the moment that got you for anything, and I mean anything. Our mutually agreed decision on that was that it was best to let sleeping dogs lie and let it go.
As it turned out, they have tried to get me twice for other silly things in relation to the same party as the previous encounter, and on one occasion I was able to show that what they were alleging was most likely caused by a violent thunderstorm which happened during the timeframe of interest, and the second time, I was out of town doing a job, and fortunately I had found boarding passes from the flights both way in the bottom of my bag, and so I was able to prove that whatever happened, that it had no connection to me.

Re: Assault on a female
These are the games we have to play... (see video)
In all fairness, if you don't consent to whatever they want, I've heard they will impound your car, strip it down to the frame, and if they still can't fine what they're looking for, they make you put it back together while charging you an impound fee and storage. And that's assuming they just don't plant the evidence.
https://youtu.be/xIZz0vF2KPo
And I've heard pro-police [state] conservatives say "well, if you've got nothing to hide, then what's the harm of consenting to a search?"
Woe unto those who harbor such sentiments, for these are the first words in the book of "Tyranny 101". They couldn't sound anymore un-American with thinking like that...
But that's where we're headed... full steam ahead!
