Easter wishes

Post by miloshlavka »

I wish happy Easter to all members and guests of Skirtcafe and to all their related people. Mainly strong health in this strange time.

Nice greeting and pastoral scene, Milos. I'll add two more to that.....'Casca sona' (Gaelic) and 'Joyeaux Paques' (French).

We cannot motor anywhere, so all our noted beauty spots this Easter will see few visitors. Something different from what one would see in Central Europe, Donegal is Ireland's Alaska without the ice & snow. These are our highest maritime cliffs but all too frequently bad visibility and sea mist spoil the view.

What’s that? More pertinently, when?

Thanks

Just another name for Easter, as lots of names were used in the opening post. The name "Easter", by some reports, comes from an ancient goddess, so some Christians prefer calling the day we celebrate Jesus' resurrection "Resurrection Day". I go either way with the name; it's the proof that death has been defeated that is important.

Thanks, Jim. Interesting to know. I hadn’t heard of the term before.

Would that be Monday then?

Sunday, April 4 for western Christianity. May 2 for some eastern denominations.

No matter when or what you happen to celebrate Easter, I sincerely hope you have a very good one.

Easter wishes 2022

Post by miloshlavka »

I wish to all readers of this board and therir near and far all the best for the Easter holidays 2022, especially peace, health, happiness, contentedness and awakening to new, perhaps finally a little better times.
And especially to members of skirtcafe.org many nice skirts and dresses :)

I also wish readers of the Muslim faith a successful pass through Ramadan (from 2nd April to 2nd may), to Jewish and Samaritan readers all the best to Passover (Jewish Passover from 16th - 23th. April, Samaritan Passover from 15th April), to readers of the Bahá'í faith all the best to Ridván (21th April + next 18 days).
I have used fagment of the text of the song Виїзд на чужину (Departure abroad) written by Stepan Malyutsa (Малюца-Пальчинецький Степан Іванович).
I know this song performed by the Trio Marenych (Ukr.Тріо Маренич, Rus.Трио Маренич, this band was active in 1973 - 2001 years).

Complete text (English translation see below ):

English translation:

[style size="30px"]Departure abroad[/style]

My mother woke me up early
„Get up, my daughter, and pray to God.
It’s time for us to leave the house now
On a long, unknown and difficult road.“ (last 2 lines – 2 times)

The path was laid out for us through the Carpathians,
Through Lesko and silver San,
To a foreign land there to look for fate,
And fate drove us all the way across the ocean…

My father and mother promised me,
That after the war we will return home.
They were waiting forty years of in vain,
I continue to wait alone without my parents.

Sometimes I dream of my home,
Circle the golden fields of the hut.
I hear sad songs from Ukraine
About my mother’s cherries and my ash trees.

Although lies rule the world,
Then the end is coming for them.
I understand here in a foreign land,
That a crown of thorns is stronger than gold. (last 2 lines – 2 times)
Everyone should be honest and prudent: to keep promises and, on principle, never to promise anything to anyone.
