Serves 'em right, those toasted Texans, to get a taste of what the rest of us put up with every year.

Thanks Tom but I don't need any more
COLD
Our high temp today as 18*F. Our "Normal High" is 61*F
Our low temp was -4*F and our "Normal Low" is 40*F.
The record low was -8*F set in 1899.
So far, we haven't lost electrical power. I can't move my
wife, who is bedridden, into the living room where the
fireplace is located.
A few days ago, there was a light ice storm. It resulted in
a 133 vehicle pile-up and 8 fatalities. The road workers
were aware of the
potential ice build up but didn't get out
sanding the roads until it was too late.
The electric generating plants are not set up to handle this
extreme cold. Many froze up - solid. Clean water plants
had frozen valves, and stopped filtering the drinking water.
North Ft. Worth is under a "Boil Water" requirement and some
areas are without water.
Texas has over 8 million customers without electricity.
The city of Houston has 45% of customers
WITH power.
I'm hoping the coming ice storm bypasses my area, I have
to keep my wife warm.
I can handle the snow, but the ice is a major problem for
roads and, especially, power lines.
Here are some examples of what Wind Chill can do to exposed
or unprotected/insulated skin.
