Just a simple saw cutting the tree off where it hit the ceiling, then taking the top half to the roof.

This is an "old" idea that is coming back :D

Actually, it is a very tall artificial tree with the top portion
placed in a separate stand on the roof top. (You can use
a 6 to 8 foot tree, and place the bottom on a short table.)
Then add plastic bags to "look" like shingles raised up on the roof.
