Re: It's all about "sex"

I know my view of the world has changed one hell of a lot over the last 4 years or so, rightly or wrongly, the UK Government always made a big thing out of our "special relationship" with the U.S. Maybe that was significant, in my view things have changed completely and there is no way we should believe or trust anything said by the US anymore. Trump's fickle nature, snap decisions, ignoring all advice from his advisers, up to and including replacing any advisers that do not say what he thinks they should stay, his pulling out of treaties which are attempting to limit the damage we are doing to the only planet that we have to live on. Other snap decisions such as suddenly pulling thousands of troops out of Germany, which benefits nobody but Putin, his mate. A "President" who ignores briefings, ignores and mocks health advice, incites unrest, ignores reality and seems to live in his own little fantasy world. What scares me most is the number of <expletives deleted> who seem to be ready to vote for this lunacy to continue for another term! Kim Ying Clang or whatever his name is has got nothing on Trump! At least in North Korea the general population have got the excuses of being a) brainwashed and b) in a regime that will punish or kill anyone who doesn't at least pretend to worship their God/King/Fat dude with silly haircut. Now the US, What excuse have the Trump voters got? They can't all be retarded/brainwashed/deluded/Fox News viewers? Can they?
I suppose that with all the contempt Trumps team have for any attempt to control the spread of COVID, refusing to mask up or distance themselves. Darwinian natural selection should weed out the weak minded given enough time, natural selection at its best!

On that happy note, time for a spot of sleep, I really hope this has all been a dream/nightmare! the World can't really be this insane? can it?

I just finished visiting with my father who flat out worships Trump. He can't figure out how to order something online and ask Jenn and I to assist. So we completed an online order for a Trump 2020 face mask at this website.

As we completed the checkout process, we had to click through no less than five screens trying to sell us tee shirts, right wing magazine subscriptions, and all under the "doom and gloom" and fear tactics of those "left wing democrats that are OUT TO DESTROY OUR COUNTRY!!! QUICK, BUY NOW! THE FUTURE OF DEMOCRACY AND AMERICAN FREEDOM DEPENDS ON TRUMP!"

Brainwashed?.... we are so far past brainwashed.

Nazi America has arrived. The only question that remains is who is Trump going to gas?

Don't forget to shout "Hail Trump!" And don't forget your "WHITE POWER" chant... he likes that....

To me this seems the extreme cruel way to run a business. First get COVID-19 settled in the country and than sell facemasks.

Dan you quoted a portion of the following sentence that I wrote, it's full version was:

These are mostly desperate, hurting, impoverished folks, sometimes just dolts...(and if you can talk in person you will find many are concerned about similar issues, but have different routes to resolution, often arising out of their fears.

Please note I was answering another party; that I used the modifier "mostly" (not all) and I allowed that we often share similar concerns but have different routes to resolution -- all in an effort to tame what has become a very rancorous thread that I suspect even in this considerably more sedate and thoughtful group has a gap too wide and entrenched for us to really understand each other or generate common cause -- even though many of us really could agree upon outcomes we would share.

There is too much tendency to read portions other's posts (not just mine) and make an expletive dismissal like the one you wrote:
[So Faldaguy as an desperate hurting impoverished dolt let me say go **** yourself]
rather than seeing the full content.

I knew my comment was risky, and thus I did nuance it with words like "mostly" and "often" and tried to acknowledge the humanity and value ["but have different routes to resolution"] of the other's point of view. I suspect you and I would actually share in a vision of a lot of the outcomes we would like to see; but we do differ greatly in the manner that we can get there. So, again...I am suggesting to all of us, that though these are important issues that are indeed worthy of discussing and seeking understanding, that there are some divides where it would be better if we either left them for in-person opportunities, or approached them like some professional conflict resolution experts do -- in that we look for those point upon which we do agree, leaving aside the others, and find ways to make common cause on the areas both (all) wish to see work. I have seen groups as far apart as pro-anti abortion organizations generate real friendships across their divide when they focus on the common outcomes they share (women and children's health, for example) rather than the divisive ones. OK guys, I've made my pitch, I am going to try to back out of this thread despite its touching on a lot of important current issues, in favor of retaining the forum for its utility, hopefully where we will most often enjoy more useful and supportive exchanges. Don't worry, I've not lost my backbone -- or my skirts.

Faldaguy,

You have the patience of a saint.

I had a somewhat unpleasant day today with my father. Im not going to hash it here, but suffice it to say, its really made me want to duck out for a while.

I'm not leaving, I'm just taking a break. It's difficult for me to witness my homeland go up in flames, the end of the nation I was born in. I'm just going to stop here.

One thing occurred to me. Our Prime Minister is paid a salary and they get a guaranteed pension at retirement no matter how long they served as PM. Does Trump get the same benefits? If so then you will be paying for his term for many years to come.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

The biggest embarrassment to the United States is the attempted formation of a new country in the middle of Seattle Donald Trump
Fixed that for you ;-)

I don’t understand how voters can support such a cretin, but as stated further up the thread, I’m not going to label them all as dolts etc. There has to be some reason why the Orange One is revered, and I’d be interested in understanding why. Not because of what the other party is/isn’t doing, but what the present incumbent is.

Its amazing the progress I have made in a short time I managed to go from a desperate hurting impoverished dolt to a retarded brainwashed deluded fox news viewer. You must be remembering Hillary's comments about Trump supporters being deplorable

Maybe if you read something besides your left leaning liberal rags you might get a truer picture of what is going on in the world

You are questioning our taking troops out of Germany,, Russia poses the same threat to England but I don't see anyone there offering to help cover the costs of maintaining the garrisons.

There are about 35000 us troops in Germany and about 17000 support personnel what is the size of the English garrison

President Trump has not taken his presidential salary since he has been in office

I don't see any of your Prime Ministers doing that

I don't know how many times we need to repeat this before you understand it: we are not basing our opinions on the opinions of the press, we are basing them on the facts the press present to us.  It doesn't matter what bias the journalists have, the facts in their reports can easily be verified by cross-checking with a number of other reports.

We do have a fairly accurate picture of what is going on in America and it looks as though the things you hold dear and have fought to uphold: the Office of President, the unity of the country, the status of America in the eyes of the World, are being destroyed by one idiot and the unthinking mob who support him.  We have opened our eyes to the facts and stopped using journalistic opinion as our guide -- you can do it too.

Dan,

I’ve got a suggestion.

1. Buy an atlas.
2. Read it, in particular the page marked Europe.
3. Read the name of the island(s) off the coast of France and Belgium.

You will note that the bigger part of that archipelago is called the UNITED KINGDOM. Not England. (The remaining part is the Republic of Ireland / Eire)

Repeat until you get that in your head.

Thanks for reading. Now please learn.

One other thing to mention, Dan. I support what Dennis, B&B and Pelmut have stated about our media and our information. In Europe in general - and the UK specifically - we are rather more aware of world affairs than your average American.

That’s partly a function of the US being so large and diverse, the world outside isn’t as immediately relevant. Why read about another continent when your country is about the size of one?

That’s also partly down to the fact that Europeans are far more travelled than Americans. We have more cultural experiences, and our media tends to be more aware of what’s going on elsewhere.

As has been mentioned before, we don’t need to read our “left-leaning liberal rags”; we see and hear information and facts from a wide range of sources. It’s hard to hide from the evidence.

Like the US, the UK contributes our 2% and a share of the nuclear deterrent, no idea what we have left in Germany, I know we did reduce numbers some years ago, what we didn't do was make an impulse snap decision with no notice. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think the UK do things on a whim without consulting other nations, NATO or other parties who will be affected.

I'm just going to leave this right here.

Why are the things you want so much more important than what I want? Are your demands greater than my likes? Is it because you use intimidation, blackmail and force to get your way- that you do? Let’s make a deal. I will leave what you like alone and you leave what I like alone and the world will be a better place for everyone.

I don't like Trump he can kiss my grits the man is worthless and it's sad to see people are brainwashed by his lies to think he's actually for the American people. He's destroying a country my father fought in the Military to keep beautiful. He's brought hatred, battles over what parties the best, broken promises and so much more. The man literally said create an injection of Lysol to put in our veins and this is what you're seriously voting for? He's a business man and not cut out to serve our country I don't care what Trump supporters say. Before you assume I'm a liberal I'm far from it I just don't cram my head so far up Trumps ass that I can't see the man isn't worthy to be reelected.Simple as that.Tired of always having to apologize because people are offended but those people don't mind offending us and telling us to f off if things don't go their way.If people reelect him then you're part of the problem.

I watched my father in law glorify this man and for what? Is it really that worth ruining a relationship with family? He seriously thought that because churches couldn't sing it was socialism.
