Another view of this Lockdown

Post by weeladdie18 »

My father was lucky to survive the war....I was born in 1946 as the first of the
children of the post war years....I will no go into the finer details but I have survived
for over 73 years. I lived on my wits and punched my luck while it was running.

The who thing is the culture in which I lived and have great respect for my ancestors.
If I do not respect my culture I will not survive.

we have all survived to this new day.
The whole issue is the interpretation of this crisis remit and understand what
has happened and what my happen .
I do not feel entirely safe....One of my neigbours works for the same employer
as a friend of a friend...10 miles away in two directions three men have suffered
with the virus...one casuaty had problems breathing for over 30 hours...
he recovered......
We are all lucky to have survived over the years....some people would not
take the risks I have been trained to take...Like swimming ashore from
a sunken boat and then nearly dying in a swimming pool.
Playing on boats and in cars is dangerous..
It is all about the risk , and the risk assessment .
Three things could go wrong at the same time...then you have an incident.

How can one contract or carry the virus ?
The risk of contamination is there on my own doorstep.
we all seem to think that if we follow the guide lines...
we will be lucky and survive...I find it is strange the way some folks behave
..I would not dream of coming down to my Isolated area from Birmingham
and consider I was safe....The cross contamination could occur either way.

I might consider I was safe , but who have I met who might be cross contaminated.
Who is the carrier ..I move about in a whole section of the community
I have to get my provisions..how safe is the supplier...Two guys travel in a truck
side by side to deliver good. .....yes....that could be a good risk....
They take turns in meeting their customers ...the staff in the shop to which they
are delivering goods....The logistics drivers travel the county in a day

With our service base ...we could be a contaminated area.
I am afraid in the end it is just pure luck...We really should be praying
..but the church has closed down all services.....The who risk is a matter of numbers.

Our church prays together online. I think God doesn't mind.

Most of the objections to the lockdown seem to be the restriction of personal freedoms. The other side of that is that your freedoms should not restrict those of others, or cause harm. The point of the lockdown and other restrictions is to prevent that harm. Do the restrictions cause harm of themselves? Yes, mostly due to financial considerations. In Canada, they have attempted to get over that by wage support to the most vulnerable people. In my view, this will probably lead to a fundamental change in the way wealth distribution is regarded, which may end up being a good thing in the end.

Thanks Jim...I have not seen any references to praying on line'
Could become a new social thing...An interesting idea

For us, living in a popular tourist area the lock down has turned our part of the world
into a ghost town ...the local residents have dissapeared

Be a good citizen, take reasonable precautions, strive to protect others, then, do not worry yourself. You've done all you can.

Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?”

Moon thank you for your thoughts .In your location have you had a problem with people dumping waste food in a laybye less than
two hundred yards from your front door ?
Rats have now been captured in two local bungalows including mine.
I saw a rat running along my draining board and into my kitchen sink.
caught the pest within a few hours.
Carl and I laughed about this being perhaps my last expedition
as the Last of the Hunters.
A week ago a friend of mine who has been living in the family
village home for fifty years told me a story.
One of his friends in the next village went down with the virus
and could not breath properly for over 30 hours.
He is living ten miles from me .He works on the air base.
My next door neighbour has two infant children.I cannot give
the kids their art class. Granny lives two doors down the road
She was a nurse and will not go into the childrens garden
Daddy is work on the base ..I cannot tell you what the tasking is
as I am covered under The Official Secrets Act.
I went past my neighbours house yesterday, The Widow of my fiend
Was passing on some of his reference books. His daughter and
her young child have moved back home with mother.
The fisherman father was a good buddy of mine . We had
both been envolved in the the Most Dangerous Profession in the World....
I went home one day and read my professional trade Paper
Under official announcements the
Fishermens Mission had announced his Festival of Life .
The service had been carried out two hours before I read it
in my paper.

I travelled twenty miles up the road to have a cup tea with
one of my friends. ....My near neighbour had rung up my friend
and asked him to lay up his boat as he was going home to pay
a last visit to his mother. He died within two weeks.
Yesterday I went round to his house to pick up some of his old
reference books which I do not have in my collection.
If one considers death , I felt I did my duty by kissing both
of my parents cold foreheads minutes after they passed away in their
own bed. This would have been some twelve years apart.
Moon ,please reflect on your own situation in these troubled times.
Roderick.
