Rock great and songwriter Leon Russell has died at age 74.

One of my favorites is his "Stranger in a Strange Land"...that's kinda how I feel these days. I can hardly recognize my own country now. (turn up volume for this one)

But Leon is probably best remembered for the "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" tour/album with Joe Cocker and others, as well as collaboration with George Harrison in the "Concert For Bangladesh". You probably heard of this guy, Sir Elton John:

I had the privilege to see him a couple years ago in a small theater in Morehead City, NC. He was much stronger in his voice and performance by then. But age and health issues take their toll. Two of his most well known songs were covered by others with great success: 'Song for You' and 'This Masquerade'. These included Whitney Houston, Ray Charles, George Benson and many others.
