Hi Everyone
Been lurking for a while. I don't wear a skirt as often as many of you do - but from time to time I do enjoy it. 99% of the warmer months here in Michigan you find me in shorts and hosiery everywhere, work, play, you name it. But I did adventure out in a denim skirt and nobody batted an eye. Hey, maybe these things really are invisible. Very comfortable for sure - but hey - it does make it a challenge getting in and out of the truck!
Went to an outlet mall, shopped a couple of stores, had lunch at Applebees and stopped at the party store for beer. I couldn't even tell if anyone did a double take. Maybe my city is so used to me in pantyhose that the skirt didn't even make them take note.

Las Vegas
Well, I've made the reservations, booked the airline and will be going to Las Vegas monday the 10th of July, The only pair of bifurcated wear I'm taking with me are 2 pairs of swim trunks and a pair of soft jogging pants for sleeping in, depending on how cold the air conditioning is in the rooms at the Rio Hotel and Casino. I'm going to play in the $1,000.00 buy in Seniors Holdem Tournament in the World Series of Poker on the 12th. I'll be skirted the entire trip as I am skirted all the time anyway. I suppose Las Vegans have seen everything including overweight men in skirts. :ninjajig:

Mike, Apart from me being somewhat aged & overweight, that's similar gear to what I was wearing at least some of the time in Austria last summer! Drew very little attention (and none negative!), which is how I prefer it!
Getting on/off trains there, skirted, can prove 'interesting', which is why I decided to take the short denim skirt, rather than the ankle-length version, I'd worn on previous visits....!

Just remember - you gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em. Good luck to you - I hope to see you in the finals, in a skirt, on TV!!!Since1982 wrote:Well, I've made the reservations, booked the airline and will be going to Las Vegas monday the 10th of July, :ninjajig:

Welcome Mike, long time no talk. I haven't got brave enough to venture out in the mainstream world wearing a skirt yet, can't wear one to work anyway due to the machinery we use and safety concerns. I do have a couple of denim skirts myself which I find more practical when I am working at the computer especially in the warmer months. As far as a long skirt is concerned, I have one that is ankle length, I like that one in the winter months with tights. I found that to be far warmer to wear while shoveling the driveway from snow than trousers. Some day I will get the guts to wear one in public, more than likely the denim mini skirt where that might look invisible.

miniskirts
No miniskirts are invisible. No matter what they're made of. The shorter a skirt is the more chances of someone seeing or imagining they are seeing parts of the "package" that women in miniskirts don't have. men don't normally wear short shorts so neither short shorts or a miniskirt is "invisible". IF you do decide to try skirting in public where you may be seen by strangers, you might want to start in something at least knee length or longer. IF you have no problem in your area in that for a moderate period of time THEN you might try a miniskirt, but make sure there's no chance of anyone seeing anything untoward when you do. A man CAN be arrested for exposing a bulge in underpants even though he isn't arrested for showing a bulge in the front of trousers. Strange world we live in but that is a fact. So if someone were to see any part of your underpants or worse yet your actual package below a miniskirt either standing or sitting they could have you arrested without proof of actually seeing anything. Cops tend to believe anything reported if it seems to them that what is reported was possible even if nothing was done. Then, unfortunately it would be up to you to prove you DIDN'T do it. In America and other places that the law USED to be "Innocent until proven guilty" has changed to "Guilty until proven innocent" and some cops WILL brutalize you in a legal way until you prove yourself innocent. For instance, if a cop tells you to get on the ground and you don't move fast enough to do that, it's within his "rights" as a cop to tackle you to the ground no matter how injured you get when he does that.
I'd definitely not start in public in a miniskirt unless you don't care at all what others think or do. You can always wear one after your skirt wearing becomes accepted in your town. My skirt wearing is publically accepted for a year and a half now in my town and county and I still wear nothing shorter than 2 inches above the knee even tho I've lost over 80 pounds since February.

I wore a military green mini for a week in greece and got nothing but compliments. America is one thing, but not all countries are like that--Canada might be another one. Even their immigration agents make you want to turn around and flee back to wherever you came from, even if you just came for a holiday!
England is also very liberal--I've worn a mini-sarong to work and it's way higher than 2" above the knee. If the material is soft it will be very difficult to expose anything untoward, because it will fall in the right places!

Not here in the UK, he can't. The authorities here have had enough difficulty getting an exhibitionist-weirdo prosecuted for rambling the length of the country stark naked!Since1982 wrote:A man CAN be arrested for exposing a bulge in underpants even though he isn't arrested for showing a bulge in the front of trousers.
As a cop, I find tha a rather sweeping generalisation. I always keep an open mind and start from the premise that somebody is innocent until there is persuasive evidence that they are not.Cops tend to believe anything reported if it seems to them that what is reported was possible even if nothing was done. Then, unfortunately it would be up to you to prove you DIDN'T do it.
You are still "innocent until proven guilty" here, and the prosecution must prove your guilt beyond reasonable doubt. As for brutalizing people, I don't recognise that. I am, like the vast majority of British cops, unarmed when on duty. What I need is for people to co-operate with me, otherwise my job becomes much harder, much more dangerous and at risk of getting myself into trouble. To brutalize someone would hardly elicit their co-operation nor keep me safe.In America and other places that the law USED to be "Innocent until proven guilty" has changed to "Guilty until proven innocent" and some cops WILL brutalize you in a legal way until you prove yourself innocent.

I'm baffled. Why on earth would a cop tell you to get to the ground? Certainly, if they physically attack you, it may be necessary to force them to the ground in order to overpower them and handcuff them, but that's only in extreme situations. I've been a cop for more than 28 years and I have never ordered anyone to get to the ground. If you are going to arrest them, and they are going to obey your instructions, you want them on their feet so that you can walk them to your police car, not prostrate with their faces in the dirt.

Standard procedure here in the US
It's standard procedure here in the USA. All police here are taught in training how to tackle a "suspect" how to kneel on his head while cuffing him with their full body weight, how to interrogate prisoners in their police cars, how to badger prisoners into saying anything that can be added as an additional charge against them. Bloody mouths and faces after being arrested in the US is quite commonplace. Either they are slammed into the ground, into a wall, into a police car or just slammed and all this is legal and expected by the "suspects". Why the heck do you think most "suspects" run like hell to avoid arrest for simple things like Driving without a license? Or running a stop sign. Because they are afraid for their lives is why. I've been stopped some years back for speeding. The officer came from behind my car, with gun drawn and told me to keep my hands on the steering wheel until he asked for my license. Getting arrested in this country is downright dangerous in some states. All American police are not like what I've just said, THANK GOD! But quite a few of them are. They come right out of Iraq and the military and join the Police force. They have military haircuts, military looking uniforms and act like the public is the insurgency in Iraq. We're not.Stu wrote:I'm baffled. Why on earth would a cop tell you to get to the ground? I really miss the days of my youth when I got arrested once for gambling, I was playing pocket billiards for a quarter a game and got arrested. Not handcuffed, not jailed, just ticketed and in court the next day where the judge dropped charges and had the officer stay after court for a dressing down for arresting someone on such a nothing charge. Life sure has changed, and not completely for the better.
