Pleats

I do like pleated skirts because they offer room for a good stride and plenty of drape for modesty when sitting, particularly with minis.
BUT ........ I do not have much time for ironing, literally nor mentally. Some pleated skirts go through the wash retaining the folds fairly well but in my experience most do not. I have devised some methods to retain the pleats and am wondering what other members do.
The khaki mini pictured was originally hung up without pegging the pleats and puffed out like a tutu, which was OK and fun but not suitable for public viewing.

I have a charcoal grey Union Kilt, and after the first couple of washes have found it impossible to get the pleats to lie flat. Any advice would be very welcome!

With my kilts, I wash them, then hang them on skirt hangers to dry.
I use 3 skirt hangers per kilt, to hang them up. All water weight is
evenly spread out. I learned the hard way, not to dry them in a dryer,
just air dry. The pleats nicely fall into place.

Yes definitely use the skirt hangers with the jaws/clamps - dem kilts get real heavy when soaked in water - when swimming kilts are not life preservers ! LOL !
By hanging the kilts up the pleats do not have a chance of becoming discombobulated away from the original machine pressing.
Best to hang in a place/airway with lots of flowing air to rapidly evaporate the moisture - remember to watch where the dripping moisture falls.
Commercial dry cleaning (and pressing) is the best cleaning method but not everyone can afford that.
