Is the patriarchy a con?

Post by Barleymower »

I have seen many views espressed here. They raise more questions than answers:

1. What is the definition of a man?
2. What is the function/pupose of Men?
3. Where are men really positioned western society hierarchy?
4. Why is it so threatening for men to wear skirts?

For me it all hangs around the purpose of men, how men are valued and what we receive in return for our services. One little incident when I was 22 answers many of those questions for me:

My then girlfriend and I were out in the car and we got a flat tyre. I put on the spare and before doing so said
"you should watch how to do this."
"No you do it, she said".
"what if it happended on your own?"
She gave me a wry smile and said "I'll get a man to do it."

Am I wrong in thinking that the majority of us men are at the bottom of the pile? Beasts of burden? By wearing a skirt are we seeking to raise our status, is that why we are so vigourously slapped down, pushed back into our lanes? Is the patriarchy a con?

No on one, yes on all the others.

Not at the bottom of the pile? You think you are bull until you find out you are an Ox.

You were not wrong in thinking that men are at the bottom of the status pile. Dead on bottom.

Oh well that's life, how about a magic skirt:

https://www.magic-skirt.com/en/informations/

It's a wrap skirt that you tie at the side. It has two layers. The second layer is handy to convert the skirt into a dress.
It is one size fits all which removes the size 14 waist and size 20 shoulders and nothing to fill out the front problem.

Here's a fitting video with lots of fitting options.

It is a trad feminine look but who cares? looks well nice.

I think I've seen those at various kiosks in Quincy Market in Boston during the summer and have thought about getting one, but never did. Perhaps if I ever get in there again to go sailing I'll grab one.

Is that RedPill stuff? I fell down that dark rabbit hole for a half a year or so once. It's good to be out.

WOW! You are only at the bottom of the pile if you believe you are.
As I see it. Some jobs are done by men because, generally we are bigger and stronger than women. Changing a tire is one of them. Tires are heavy. Who cleans your house does the dishes. Some jobs can be done by both sexes, like cooking.
Time to get up off the floor if you are on it. Be yourself. Wear a skirt if you find it more comfortable.
Sorry off topic,

Sorry off topic,
That was certainly my opinion and I held it for a long time.
I have changed that view.
1. My sister dumped and divorced her stay at home husband, father to their daughters for a better model. She said to me: if he wants to see his kids, he'll have to pay.
2. My work colleague only got custody of his daughter after his wife refused to turn up several times. All she had to do was turn up.
3. Fathers for justice.
4. Men being ridiculed day in day out on TV
5. Male suicide through the roof.
The list goes on and on.

Sounds like I'm getting all anti women. I'm not. Standing up for men doesn't automatically mean that you are a misogynistic a🥳hole.

Women are perfectly capable to do any job a man does. They proved that during the war. Men can cook and do the dishes. That's a fact.

I'd have given a smile back and said "I'll know who to see when I want a sandwich..."

What can she say?? Sexist is sexist...

Just sayin'.
