Asos Skirts

Post by Dungo »

If anyone’s interested ASOS have a couple of skirts in at present. Nice to see them being open and not claiming they are Kilts or suchlike.

Hate to point this out, they also sell this:

But again, if it opens guys up to the possibilities of skirted clothes, I don't care. Just don't let this become the norm!

And apparently, a "sarong":

I put that in quotes because, well, it's not much more than a handkerchief.

I have to say that the arrangement of pleats on this one really makes me suspect that it is actually a kilt-type skirt being worn back-to-front. It's still quite smart, but I'm not sure I could wear it without thinking this, or worrying that other people might think it.

Yes, I thought the same. They’re not really for me to be honest but nevertheless it’s heartening for someone as mainstream as ASOS to be marketing these in my opinion; it all aids familiarity for the masses.

I thought it was very similar looking to some of the Kilts I bought from https://cheapkilt.com/

My current favorite skit us The Drop Elliot Pleated Mini Skirt last week I met with a couple of friends for dinner and a few drinks and I was complimented out my choice of skit.

I have to say that, while these aren't quite what I would choose, these are sensible garments and they are affordable - as opposed to the catwalk nonsense.

Now let's see if they sell - and if guys are wearing them out and about.

I think the next step is for ASOS to add a skirts subcategory to the men’s menu - I tried to contact them but it wouldn’t pass me to a human. Could have been the time, I didn’t check the timezone. I basically wanted to suggest to them to add it, as they keep selling these and it would make them a more obvious option to casual browsers. Could also generate some social media outrage, which I hear can be quite positive in driving traffic to a site.

Can we email them?

These skirts are truly more generally wearable by the average man.

Hoping we could generate some positive social media traffic. I feel if the conservative folks get outraged and push hard against men’s skirts, it won’t help us. I’d rather work together with everyone rather than draw lines in the sand.

The first two jackets certainly button to the right (i.e. the usual male direction); the third is more difficult to make out, but I think that it goes to the right too.

Although a few are fairly predictable "men's" skirts, being black and long, two were more encouraging:
