Kinloch Anderson Kilt Skirts

Post by nzfreestyler »

I've just stumbled upon Kinlock Anderson Kilts - and accessories - all in tartans.
A bit pricey - and quite a few styles from traditional kilts to kilt skirts, even silk tartan hi-low styles.

this simple kilt skirt took my fancy - I am seriously contemplating finding my family tartan and ordering one:

there's also a hipster kilt skirt sitting lower and less tailored for your hips:

and more traditional kilt skirt styles...

and as reference they do proper kilts to (or at least they seem proper to a novice such as myself)

quite pricey though - the mens kilts are around $700 - womens kilts/skirts much lower.

I have an Anderson Modern kilt from them with flashes to match and a nice pin. Heavy, though, as I went for a 'proper' 23" drop to hem (top of the knee). That means that plenty of material went into it. I also have a green Hybrid K- kilt from UK kilts with Anderson Modern tartan in the box-pleat reveals.

Hi and pricey is correct.
Given that there is a Scots element in New Zealand, you could possibly have one made at a more competitive cost.
Plus shipping no doubt too?
Only other note, family tartans are all fine and dandy but not always to one's taste.
Mine is Kennedy and frankly the tartan is nothing to brag about.
Look around there are loads of tartans it's all about freestyle after all.
I love the hipster skirt but not at that price even if they do deliver free in the UK.
Steve.

We get a lot of people writing lock instead of loch but they are vastly outnumbered by those who do this out loud. Most of the culprits come from a lot closer to Scotland than New Zealand. Strange how an accent that can't handle the ch in Scottish place-names has no problem making that ch sound when mis-pronouncing Welsh place-names. Here endeth the mildly racist rant!

:hmmm: If I were going pay THAT kind of money for a tartan skirt,
I'ld go the extra money for a full - PROPER - tank/brecon kilt.

They will last a life-time, and then some. :D
