On being beautiful.

Post by crfriend »

It's not often I get called "beautiful" which makes it all the more special when it happens. I am not averse to that moniker, but do find it somewhat bemusing as I'm a late 50s bloke with a receding hairline and a wise-arse attitude. But yet it happens.

It happened again today, at my normal week-end haunt (Yes, I know today is a Friday, but I'm burning vacation time so I don't have to donate it back to the fat-cats at the top of the food-chain in my corporation), and not only that I got one heck of a hug for it. It seems that there are some women who actually appreciate men who dare to venture outside the narrow confines and who have the guts to express themselves. I am slightly encouraged by this.

Rig: White puffy-sleeved lace-cuffed shirt, purple velvet waistcoat, black midi-skirt, purple tights overlaid with red fishnets, and black 2-inch heels.

I'll chalk this up as a "win".

So, what is "beauty", and why can't men participate?

Beauty, as always, is in the eye of the beholder, and I can find beauty in things as obvious a flowers and spectacular landscapes just as much as I can find it in a well-designed computer. I can find it in bridges, and I can find it in good mechanical design. It seems that the gals can find it in guys with guts as well. I'll take that. There is no reason why any of us cannot be beautiful -- and there should be no embarrassment about the matter!

Do not be afraid to be beautiful!

This sums up my feelings on the subject.

Jesus loves the little children, all the little children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world
Everything is beautiful in its' own way
Like a starry summer night or a snow covered winter's day
Everybody's beautiful in their own way
Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find a way
There is none so blind as he who will not see
We must not close our minds, we must let our thought be free
For every hour that passes by, you know the world gets a little bit older
It's time to realize that beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder
Everything is beautiful in its' own way
Like a starry summer night or a snow covered winter's day
Ah, sing it children
Everybody's beautiful in their own way
Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find a way
We shouldn't care about the length of his hair or the color of his skin
Don't worry about what shows from without but the love that lives within
We're gonna get it all together now and everything gonna work out fine
Just take a little time to look on the good side my friend
And straighten it out in your mind
Everything is beautiful in its' own way
Like a starry summer night or a snow covered winter's day
Everybody's beautiful in their own way
Under God's heaven, the world's gonna find a way

Just wish I thought of it first.
