where are we all from
Re: where are we all from
Sinned---coming up your way in October. One of the day trips is to York. Saw the Minster last year, this year is straight to railway museum.
Re: where are we all from
I could possibly go for a visit to the NRM if my shift at the store allow it or maybe take the day off so could meet you. I have absolutely no issues with going skirted in York but have to see about getting out of the house without MOH moaning.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Will let you know nearer the time
Re: where are we all from
Somerset born but grew up in Wiltshire (Southern England). University in Loughborough (that's "Lufbra" for those unused to English spelling) then moved to Slough for a couple of years before buying a house in Bourne End, roughly half way between Maidenhead and High Wycombe. I've lived in the town for a little over 30 years now, moving once in that time. Spent about a year working in Newcastle when a local job proved elusive but, despite enjoying the Northeast of England, was glad to get back to civilisation
Have fun,

Thank you, Ian.Milfmog wrote:... Loughborough (that's "Lufbra" for those unused to English spelling)
But what about the other place? What do the locals say?
Does it rhyme with though? cough? rough? through? borough? ...

Slough is pronounced Slow as in (moo) cow.

I thought those two words did not rhyme.

Funny- working in and around Slough for ages, we always pronounced it like plough(slough). We as truckers had our own name for the horrible place- not complimentary, lol.

Originally from Darlington (Co Durham), then Hull (Yorkshire) then Perth (Western Australia, not Scotland). I've been on the smallest continent for the last 50 years.

When I first moved to the area, local shops used to sell car stickers that read "Happiness is Slough in my rear view mirror". At least the town has enough of a sense of humour to laugh at itself.skirtyscot wrote:"Come, friendly bombs, and fall on Slough!

Yes, I remember seeing those. They didn't sell for long. Of course the town adopted a very well-known Public School situated just across the river from Windsor, which is popularly known in some circles as Slough Grammar!
