shoes again

Post by Bamaskirting »

I've given up on finding good shoes to wear with skirts. I wear size 11 men's so that's about a 12.5 women for that side of isle. I will have to just settle with Van's until I can get the funds to order some. which I will most likely have to return. it's frustrating.

Well, there's always Payless as their women's shoes go up to size 13 with a goodly portion in wide widths. Happy searching.

Jeffs comments 'Spot On' !
The key to getting footwear that fits is to be the first one in the door when the shelves are stocked.
For sandals and summer wear right now is a good time to go shopping - for boots late summer.
Always think about a three of four months in advance of the season.
Make contact with the store manager or one of its senior employees to get a heads up on the large sizes.
Payless is great in that they also have a website - buy a certain amount and get free shipping - doesn't fit return to any store.
Caution with Payless - stock mostly from China and some not so well made but the price is right and the return policy.
Famous Footwear is another source but not so much in the extended sizes.
Nordstroms (Rack) is a source but a bit pricey.
DSW stores if available in your area - but get there when the stock is first put on sale.
Sears JCPenny Wal*Mart not so good.
And then there is always EBAY - but S&H of footwear is not cheap and the returns not so favorable.
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

I've finally bought, (still have to pick up) some boots. These ones.

LTS has a fairly good range. LTS own brand are somewhat generous in sizing, up to a size large in their European equivalents, Clarks and Blondo a little less generous. Some variation in widths.

Clarks are a UK brand, so I was hopeful that these could be what I'very been looking for. The UK website has them marked down from £160 to £80 but only lists them in up to size 8 and only has stock upto a 4 1/2. Oh well...

Have fun,

Ian.

A few online options are Maryland Square, Massey's and Zappos, all of which offer sizes up to 13 wide. The styles are far from dazzling, but that shouldn't be seen as a dealbreaker.

Wow. "Far from dazzling" doesn't even begin to describe the paucity of attractive selections there. My clunky men's shoes look better than what's on offer in the larger sizes.

Well, the other end of the spectrum is the "f*ck me" footwear from manufacturers like Pleaser (found on sites like Amazon.com) that offers outrageous stripper/streetwalker shoes in larger sizes. I doubt that would be desirable either.

I am jealous of you who can integrate footwear intended for women into your wardrobes. We of more size will have to struggle through with more esoteric men's shoes.

Not to brag, but I've been doing that very thing for years now, and I wear a size 13 wide when it comes to women's shoes. I'll readily admit it hasn't been easy as my choices for footwear in my size are limited, but it can be done. Bottom line, I'll be damned if I wear dull and boring men's shoes with my skirts. That's just not how I roll.

I wear an 8 1/2 D US in most of my men's shoes and have had good luck with the US 11standard width woman's shoes I've bought from the UK company Hotter. That is the top of their size line though.
