Kiltguy, exploring the threads will take A LOT of time, but there's tons of great observations, insights, questions, advice, stories, and humor spread around. Have fun, and welcome!
When I heard about skirting, I jumped in with both feet!

Just skip the jumping through flaming hoops and put on something unbifurcated * and join the party !

* For you that is a skirt dress or kilt as for the hem length whatever you feel you can get away with
disregard the some restrictions apply cause it is none of the above !

Oh and of course *"WELCOME"* to skirting the light fantastic !
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Unfortunately, there aren't enough of us but as the closest you will get to a family, for such a wide-ranging and disparate group, we do have our differences and often agree to disagree, we are all united in our love for the skirted garment. But it's sometimes hard to continue in the face of opposition. Today I wore a darkish purple polo shirt, lilac above the knee heavy cotton skirt, dark purple tights and purple Adidas trainers on my errands to the chemist and other shops. I thought that I looked good but to see the look of distaste on MOH's face when she came in from work twanged the pain nerve in my heart. No words were said and she didn't ask if I went out so attired. She must have known that I did and I didn't enlighten her. :(
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Quite a bit of purple all around. Maybe it was just too close to Barney the Dinosaur?

The trainers are the style with the 3 white bands running front to back. The nearest I could find on ebay is this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Adidas-Climac ... SwL7VWnA8J. There's a bit more white in mine - the heel part, the tongue, but you get the idea. My eldest grand-daughter, aged 13, thinks they are cool and has asked to borrow them but they are still a little big on her.

Welcome to the fold...!

I think you will find this board to be pleasant, reasonable, and realistic. Many differing opinions there are, but as Dennis (sinned) said, we are united in our desire to wear skirts, kilts, dresses, etc, and still present as a man.

It's quite liberating.
