so far it has been almost a month since I last wore pants
and it got me thinking why only a year in a kilt or skirt
I am considering staying in kilts or skirts permanently

Sounds great. What kind of skirts and kilts do you wear?

So is the objective not to wear trousers or shorts for a year or to wear a skirt every day? If the former, I would not even consider it, as I like to have the option to dress for what I'm doing and sometimes trousers are the right choice. Conversely, if it is the latter, I suspect I've already done it; I can't remember the last day I did not wear a skirt for at least some of the time.

Have fun (but try not to get obsessive),

For those who wish to ditch trousers (or, by proxy, shorts) altogether I wish you good luck. However, and I mean no offense in this, I will not be joining you.

For this writer, the whole thrust is about options and about choice, i.e. I want the choice of what to clothe my lower half in and not have it dictated to me. Sometimes this means skirts and sometimes it means trousers, and I let my whim (and my sense of practicality) lead me to the proper choice for that setting.

For the record, it's trousers today. I'm sick, depressed, and just generally not in the mood to push boundaries or even remotely need to defend myself over a fashion choice. When I'm like this, skirts are just not an option.

for the most part I want to quit trousers compleatly
but I am leaving options open as I do know
there are times that pants are the better choice.
no one is dictating what I wear, being skirted is
my own choice

Carl is, again, right on target regarding clothing choice. I wear skirts as a viable option as far as I am concerned, but sometimes trousers are the most practical way to go--such as working around spinning woodwork or farm machinery, riding a horse or an ATV, which cause more farm deaths anyway without the added risk of a skirt.

I agree if I am working around moving machinery I'll wear pants as I know
a skirt would not be a good idea just because I said that I would wear a skirt every day does not mean that it would be all day long every day.
if I am doing anything messy or around machinery
I'll wear pants but once any work is done for the day
then I will change into a skirt

That's an entirely reasonable compromise, and actually part of what I was driving at.

The other component has to do with the notion of obsessing over the issue, and I don't think that's particularly healthy. I believe that having a balanced approach is better than an "either/or" one. True enough, I wear skirts more than I wear trousers, and it's the option to choose what to put on in the morning that I like.

Every morning I slip into my Macabi which in combination with my first cup of Senseo puts a smile on my face.
Going out in kilt, skirt or pants solely depends on the weather.
Moodswings have no effect on my choice of clothing but the first thing I do coming home in a pair of pants is put on a skirt.
Skirts simply feel more comfortable.
