Instagram advertised this to me today - quite expensive, but nice to see some more options out there.

More options true, but they rather look like the inspiration came from St Brad of the Pitt.
Losing the swag look would help too.

I think it’s a big ask for retailers to make a fun/cool unisex or male skirt right out the bat. And frankly, if men’s skirts take off that’s all that will be available. I’m OK with that - though. It’ll give me enough latitude to wear funner skirts than I currently have the courage for.

An old curtain from a charity shop and pair of shears....

 Anyone up for a competition to see who can come up with the best or worst skirt made out of an old pair of curtains? :kiltdance:

Seriously; reveals for Christmas, so plenty of time to ponder and construct. No rules, apart from:

It has to be an old curtain to start with.

Before and after photos required.

I literally have a set of heavy floral curtains I want to make into a skirt.

The first skirt I had was one that I made from an old white sheer curtain, folded into thirds so it wasn't sheer any longer, and which I learnt "The Way of The Skirt" in. I still have it, and it's likely in my thread in "Pics and Looks".

It's very, very possible to turn ordinary household things into skirts. Curtains and tablecloths both come very handily to mind.

It may well be that the break through into commercial viability will be one or a few particular designs. With MIS in general lagging by some years.

Hi Coder
I do honestly get the "courage" aspect, I took a long time and much fretting to muster mine to the point of fun.
I think we also already know that I hold little truck with the "just do it, gung-ho brigade".
However, just give yourself the latitude to wear whatever you damn well please.
Certainly, to Joe Public it won't matter if the skirt is a little something that Tom Browne ran up for you or a hacked up old DIY creation.
A skirt is just a skirt, the provenance only determines the price.
As for fun, we need all that we can get, and more too.
Steve.

Good to see a manufacturer aiming a skirt at men. (It looks better on the male model than on the women, I think!) I don't care for the ruched seam or the hefty price tag, but I hope it's a sign of things to come.

You two are way more forgiving than this old dude. Sure, retailers make an effort, certainly to make a profit anyway.
I really do wonder what the cost would be if the "unisex/manskirt" aspect were removed.
Certainly not identical but look at this. Retails at less than £100 UK and the likely reaction level identical. Maybe even higher, I think it looks better too.

Here is an idea.
Make a simple skirt, Simple color or color's Make and sell for a fair cheap price.
Make it comfortable to wear, U can call it unisex or what ever.
If its cheap enough and looks comfortable people will try it.

Hi Chirp, it is out there already and oddly enough it is actually called a skirt too.
There are even a few varieties to choose from.
Pay your money and have fun with it too.
Very simple really.
