I noticed that two people have voted against the mission statement, but have not discussed why. I am interested in hearing dissenting voices (it's a critical reality check), and would appreciate it if you might please post your reasons, or PM them to me.

About the members who already had women's names when they joined this site when Noodles was running it, are they going to be asked to change to different names? Thanks for bringing this up, I hadn't thought about it. My recollection is that people actually posting under woman's names are few and fa...

Maybe Im a bit off here and need some clarification... as percieved by the outside world. we are cross dressers One of our goals, I believe, is to build fashion freedom mindshare in the wider world. Cross-dressing (as I've defined it) makes many people uncomfortable, but our experience is that a gu...

Mission Statement and Who are We?

There has been much discussion recently regarding who we are and questions about whether we are "drifting." I would like to open discussion on that issue. First of all, below is a proposed mission statement. Please vote and comment on it. It is my belief that this mission statement accurat...

Hmmm.... Seattle sounds a lot like Boston in so many ways. Hey, Boston isn't so cheap either.

I don't think we should throw out "kilts" in our tagline, since that would send us firmly on the Freestyle side of the world, and I don't want to be there. Tom's Cafe was always a place of diversity, that was its strength.

Naming of the Cafe

The rules and subject material at Skirt Cafe are the same as they were at Tom's Cafe; see the "Summary of the Rules" post for a summary. In particular, any aspect of fashion freedom is within the realm of discussion at the Cafe, just as it always was. The Cafe is a place of Bravehearts and...

Welcome to SkirtCafe --- change from Tom's

To all those who found your way here... thank you for your perseverance. Moves can be difficult, but this one is now mostly behind us. Things still look a little bare around here, and the potted palm hasn't quite made it off the truck yet. But in time, I we can spruce up this Cafe, light a cozy fire...

Why no skirt at work...

I work at a large corporation with an official "gender expression" anti-discrimination policy. I wear long hair with a barrette at work and I'm valued by my colleagues. So... why don't I wear a skirt in the office? I asked myself that question, and here's why. Like most people, I work in a...

Yes, he was arrested for the right reasons --- he was doing dangerous things. But what irks me is that this story attracted nationwide attention for the wrong reasons --- his choice of clothing while acting nutty. Just look at the headline. Heck, this article made the top emailed list at Bosotn Glob...

New House

After a 20-month wait, my wife and I FINALLY moved into our brand new house this month. Boy, was it WORTH the wait. I mean, the floors are level, there's enough space to not have everything all in one room, and there's even a dishwasher. We're in heaven!

Just wanted to share...

People won't notice white. I had mine painted pink for a couple of months, not a peep from my roommate (it was subtle). Then painted them red, and THIS was the first time she noticed my painted toenails, and she hit the roof.
