SkirtedViking: It never occured to me to consider a women's top, I just went with what's in my closet. Besides, I like being able to mix and match articles of clothing from both sides of the gender fence. I've toyed with the idea of wearing a slip under the skirt if I ever go out in same, but I have...

Clothing has been so driven by gender for well over a century, meaning, only men can wear this while only women can wear that. But the inequity between the genders is monstrous. Women can wear anything, including jeans and combat boots and not raise so much as an eyebrow from society, but if a man v...

Other than my wristwatch, I'm not much for jewelry either. However, an ankle chain would look nice with a skirt.

JeffB1959, I've gotta say it -- HUBBA, HUBBA, DUDE!!! Yes, it's true, you look HOT! Don't let anyone tell you what to wear, you've obviously got GREAT fashion sense! I have absolutely no idea why anyone would ever wonder if masculine and feminine go together... It's like asking whether hamburger pa...

Many thanks for the comments which pretty much covered the spectrum from moderate concern to "who gives a damn?" I appreciate your sharing your thoughts on the matter as this issue would be something I'd have to take into consideration before venturing out in public in a skirt. Again, than...

JeffB, Welcome to the Café. I've admired your adventures on the HHplace forum (where I lurk from time to time!) for some years and have to say that your skirted fashion - heeled and hosed - is fabulous and remains very masculine. I sense that at least one forum member (Emerald Witch - watch out!) i...

WSmac: Having clicked on that link, I found they style you chose interesting, but I like this one more:

If I were ever to go out in a skirt, short of carrying a purse, I'd love to have a bag like that as it's both practical and stylish.

As a newbie to this forum, I found that absolutely fascinating, that one can look more "manly" in a miniskirt than in a longer one. Do you think that's because short skirts are mistaken by the public at large as shorts while longer skirts are unmistakable as a "women's" garment?...

Skirting in the Digital Age

Forgive me if this topic has already been discussed, but I'm most curious about this. In this age of camera and video phones in the hands of everyone from teenagers to senior citizens, does anyone wonder, or worry about being unknowingly filmed while out and about in a skirt and then winding up on Y...

To me - and I do realise that some people might find this odd - a knee length or calf length skirt looks far more feminine on a man than does a mini skirt. So (at least to my eyes) I look more "manly" in a mini skirt than I would in a longer one - and that's one reason why I wear short sk...

WSmac: Many thanks for the kind words and the tips. I mean to read as much of the posts of other members and absorb as much advice as I can before I take "the big step". Meanwhile, it sounds like you've taken a much bigger step than I, attending college skirted. Whoa! That's certainly bold...

Dennis: Thanks for the response. It's certainly good to communicate with someone who's "been there, done that". And yes, I agree that my concept of my appearance was indeed based on all those years of crossdressing. Perhaps it's an ingrained behavior or mindset that says I can't look good ...

New Kid In Town

Greetings, everyone! My name is Jeff, a 48 year old African-American from Pennsylvania, 11 years removed from two decades of honorable service in the Navy. After having been a lurker for the last few months, I finally got up the nerve to join your board. I arrived here by a rather roundabout method....
