Re: Caftans!

There is a lot of potential in garments that hang from the shoulders.

Re: Do folks notice or not?

And as skirts are associated almost entirely with females, surely no straight/cisgender male would risk trying one on.

Re: Do folks notice or not?

I recall an analysis in the Fashion Freestyler (formerly Casual Crossdresser ) blog.... ....that if you are willing to step out of the confines of conventional masculinity, it is because you feel no need for womens' approval. And if there is one group of men who aren't trying to appeal to women-who ...

Re: Patterns: Robes, Cloaks....

Actually, I made a useful garment while skipping the sewing of the neck pieces, and skipping the hemming. Basically making (one) pipe or tube, with holes for head and arms. Very crude, but comfortable.

Re: Patterns: Robes, Cloaks....

It occurred to me that I should copy the instructions for what I call a poncho style caftan: How To Sew A Simple Caftan 1. Measure from the nape of your neck down to the desired length-purchase twice this amount of 45" wide fabric. 2. Cut the fabric into two equal lengths. 3. Reduce the width o...

Re: Cognitive Dissonance

I think that there is no doubt that increased exposure to men in skirts (etc) normalises the experience for the onlooker. What seems outlandish soon becomes assimilated and becomes, well, not quote the norm, but certainly within norms. . Or, somewhat more broadly, if not a norm, at least what is wi...

Re:the near future

Actually, it is easier to imagine large numbers of men in skorts than large numbers of men in bona fide skirts.

Re: Cognitive Dissonance

Members are surmounting the biggest of hurdles-a man in one pipe. We are breaking the most rigid of taboos. But this is likely because we are particularly interested in doing so. I have to admit that I am still subject to earlier conditioning. I feel cognitive dissonance if a man wears frilly clothe...

Re: Old Men ?

3. A lot of young people are trying to attract a mate and care what others think. . Which leads to "behavioral policing" (to borrow a term from Daryl) by women. I have noticed at least one thread about conflict with wives. The first hoop a young man has to jump through is that women expec...

Re: On crossdressing

ly. I would like to think I am leading a revolution to allow men to wear skirts, but the truth is. most men have little interest or desire to persue the issue of wearing skirts. . . A member came up with the term "Skirtonians"-people who like skirts/enjoy wearing skirts. Who seem to be a ...
