unintended

AMM, Yes, techie here too. Burned many times by my own curiosity, if I were a cat, I would probably have used up most of my nine. The skirt thing has caught my curiosity too and I am moving forward one inch at a time with it -- carefully testing the path ahead. Not exactly Arnold style, but I will g...

AMM Thanks for this posting too

AMM, Thanks for your posting about social norms and society in general. I hadn't really thought of things in those terms, rather, thought about the impact closer to home with family and friends. However, your point is very valid and if and when "they come for" the xxxx (where xxxx = the re...

Thanks

AMM, Thanks for your advice about wearing the outfit around home first, hadn't really considered that, but it makes sense. Funny thing is, the kilt I have (see below) worn with a white polo gives me the feel of "Andrews School for Girls" image -- they worn some sort of plaid skirt and a wh...

almost there!

Charlie, Told her what you guys said and she now says she will pick out a skirt for herself too! Ah, progress! I like seeing her in a skirt, she's not real sold on seeing me in one yet, but at least it doesn't turn her stomach anymore! She just kind of smiles. Going to the dance will be a big test -...

Reality

I have to agree with Charlie, reality is I am married and like being married. My wife has been really, really good about all of this. We both have been brain washed over our 50+ years. It takes time, patience and effort to undo the damage. We are making good progress and I am going to my dance in ei...

Going to the dance

Guys & Gals, Well, we are going to our first contra dance, wife as agreed to allow me to wear a skirt. However, a Sport Kilt that I ordered just arrived (see pic below), so I am considering wearing the Kilt instead -- it is very nice. I am not sure what to wear with the kilt, so I would apprecia...

Gonna go for it

Guys, I am going to my first contra dance this Friday -- I contacted one of the principle people in organizing the event. I asked about men in skirts -- here is the reply: "In fact, the All Soles dance, held at First Unitarian Universalist Church in Clintonville once a month, was founded seven ...

your contribution

Emerald,
I for one liked your article, please don't let Skip bother you, his Internet connection isn't the best down there in the keys and these pages probably load very slowly --

Please continue with your contributions here and elsewhere, I truly enjoy your perspective!

skirt dance

Charlie, We are ballroom dancers and I typically wear a tux. I have a very nice black skirt that would work very well with the tux, but wife says next year. We are the presidential couple (which means we do all the work) and she doesn't want to experiment with that group -- yet. However, next year, ...

Perspective

Yes, it's funny how your perspective changes once you step into this world. I have a lot more sympathy and tolerance of others too. Perhaps skirt wearing comes complete with a life lesson. I did not intend to stir up a controversy with this thread, I had simply noticed that by people's posting comme...

Lessons in dressing

Emerald,
Would love for you to participate! Frankly, for a lot of the clothing being discussed, you may have more experience with them than most of us!

Bravehearts

Guys, Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong, but my understanding is a Braveheart is one who is encouraging & promoting the wearing, acceptance and availability of kilts for men -- period. Freestylers, of course, take more liberty than BHs in their clothing choices to include just about a...

Dare I say?

Guys,
Shoveling snow and riding a bike in cold weather may qualify for (dare I say) pants! There is a time and a place for everything!

Carl's choice of colors

Sapphire,
Well, I can easily understand why he scowled, everything matched except that " turquoise windbreaker", I mean, come on!

Beautiful Twirl

Charlie,
I saw that too, I would like to be able to do that too. We really are a "different" bunch, eh?

There is an active group here in Columbus, OH and they have a dance coming up at the end of Nov. We are going to give it a try! I hope it's a large, active group, it looks like a blast!
