Re: Software Upgrade

Thanks Carl for your great work. The colour scheme doesn't bother me too much, and I really like the new mobile format. Most of the time I read on my phone, but now I can respond sensibly. (Or perhaps I should say, I now have no excuse for nonsensical responses  )

Re: So, kiltshopping?

Both outfits look fine to me, as does the log fire! (Electric job with WHITE LED behind the coals. Where's the logic in that?)

I think the idea would have been better presented in leather rather than denim.
I second that! :D

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Continuing the kilted outings, we (my wife and I) attended a local prayer meeting on Saturday. The host and his new wife both asked if I was going to a wedding (strange question as the kilt was clearly a cheap affair, and I was wearing woolly sweater and a parka against the cold, damp weather). Havi...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Joining the rank of those who visit clinics skirted. I needed a massage for shoulder pain and put in a call as I set out on my weekly walk to Tranent. An appointment was available for 11am so I reversed directions for the 5 miles to Monktonhall. Enjoyed a 45 minute workout whilst wearing my black ki...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Participated in my first Parkrun this morning in my black kilt. Had one or two comments and questions: “Do you wear it all the time?” (I wish!) “Aren’t you cold in the kilt?” It was around 4C when we met at 09:30) Answer: “No! If you keep your torso warm, the legs act as a temperature regulator.” At...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

After the ditching of skirts mentioned in Personal Stories, I am reduced for the moment to one black value Tartanista. I've worn in it a few times on Monday morning walks to nearby Tranent, and other places. I've also been out with MOH several times, and on a cold day this week wore tights with it r...

Re: Quora

I used to have an account, I suspect because I once wanted to ask a question. Quora is certainly no your average discussion board, so I would expect a more moderate and generally respectful tone. At one time I had a Yahoo account, and read and sometimes commented on Yahoo Questions (or whatever it i...

Re: Another school with gender neutral uniform

The Lewes saga continues, with a total ban on skirts from this term. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-49599078 Pupils are resisting the ban on grounds of equality, but also the environmental impact of ditching current clothes, especially for final year students. One girl said: "To make i...

Re: Sporran chain/strap/hanger ?

I like the look of the Pibroch Sporrans and agree that the modern flat ones are awkward to access, but at over £200 each, I won't be buying one!

Re: Another reason I hate Tennessee

In many of the discussions around the social acceptability of Men in Skirts, we are generally agreed that we desire to be allowed to do our thing without being labelled as anything other than "men who happen to wear skirts". How ironic, then, that "devout" people are so often portrayed on this forum...

Re: why we wear skirts and kilts

I have never liked drab clothing. Years ago, it was possible to obtain a wider variety of menswear. I remember purchasing black trousers with coloured flecks so that I was not too drab when I went to something reasonably formal. Whilst at Uni I had a brown shirt and trousers (perhaps not the best co...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Kilted today for a trip to the Western General hospital for waterworks inspection. Lunch with friends at Scottish Churches Housing Action to discuss publicising my sponsored KiltWalk outing in August, and a walk (most of the way) home - about 7 miles before I gave up on the rain and caught a bus.
