Oddly enough, skorts remind me of fashion Bloomers. Will the next step for men be the counterpart (going in the opposite direction-towards skirts) of Athletic Bloomers?

Creating costumes is a hobby for some people. They recreate historical costumes, and sometimes create fantasy costumes.
