Re: More gender neutral retail
So they have had a male model, and they are open to male customers, even if they don't seem on the face of it to be trying very hard in that direction. Their stores are in Portland (Oregon) and Los Angeles, so it would probably be surprising to see their stuff routinely listed on UK sites. On occas...

Re: A change at work results in no skirting.
Sometimes I take the campus buses, and one time an instructor was observing/instructing a driver. She (instructor) was wearing 2" heels (not block!) and standing up the entire time while the student (in both senses of the word, as students drive our busses) proceeded down the road (eventually s...

Re: A change at work results in no skirting.
The problem with this is that the majority of these assessments are covert, it's rather difficult to blend in with regular passengers when you're wearing a skirt! One suggestion - wear your skirt under a beige trenchcoat while wearing a pair of these: https://i.imgur.com/K1d6Dmh.jpeg I guarantee th...

Re: Where is the truth?
But this all comes down to the age-old question yet again: do we want to wear skirts to express femininity or, as in my case, do we want to see skirt-wearing redefined so as to take away the feminine connotation? These two are, I am afraid, unreconcilable. This is the zero sum game that we must con...

Re: Where is the truth?
There is no inherent reason a man can't wear a skirt other than current fashion, but there is a subliminal and primeval reason why women look good in false eyelashes and lipstick and men look ridiculous. Not trying to argue with you - but isn't this just social conditioning? How do you know this is...

Re: Where is the truth?
According to some, femininity is considered inferior in the male, that mens clothes are considered unisex while female clothes are exclusively for women. A man wearing a skirt would in some places still be ridiculed and shamed. I don't think people consciously think this way. I tried to convince so...

Re: Women wearing skirts
I have to wear pants for my job all week and it helps me (disconnect?) keep work separate in my mind." Coder, that could very well come from a guy. LOL - I had the exact same thought. I almost put this under the silly reasons thread, but a mental break from one mode of dress into another proba...

Re: Women wearing skirts
I posted this in another thread, but overheard a public conversation this weekend. A lady said, "Oh, I didn't wear a skirt today because I was running later earlier, but I like to wear skirts on the weekends because I have to wear pants for my job all week and it helps me (disconnect?) keep wor...

Re: Coach Skirt with Male Model
Pretty sure. One of the models is named Steven and has hairy legs but long hair. Oh, good catch on the legs, I saw the name but was a bit “?”. Still, not sure though with the legs - and they don’t list this in mens which I think is the bigger issue, if their intent is to sell a mens skirt. Ah, I ta...

Are you sure? The skirt is listed in the Women’s section and neither models look male.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
Went to the yarn store to buy a row counter, also stayed for their knit together. I wore a heavy canvas green below knee skirt, grey marled tights, black boots, and a mustard/cream striped jumper. Was very welcoming as before, no odd stares or reactions even though I go by my name - which is unambig...

Re: Encouragement
But dare you suggest a change in her appearance and... well let's just say I'm sure the fallout would be fierce and dealt swiftly. Even without that in mind, I wouldn't even try. Why should I try to change her to fit my whims? She's not a doll to be played with; she's another human being! What gall...

Last night, I got a chance to chat with her "co-conspirator" on the "makeover" theme But dare you suggest a change in her appearance and... well let's just say I'm sure the fallout would be fierce and dealt swiftly. (of course - I'm not suggesting anyone tell anyone else how to ...
