Re: Do folks notice or not?
I have a bottom of the knee length navy corduroy skirt that I wore to my chemo infusion at the oncologist. Several staff members made positive comments on it (physician assistant and a couple of RNs). One comment the skirt color co-ordinated with the color of the room (I call it the blue room as the...

Re: Garden railway photos
At least some products are still produced in Britain! I have a number of pair of shoes produced in and sent to me across the pond. Britain, like the US, still makes some things. When I was still working and wearing nice dress shoes, all of them were from a US company that made them in Wisconsin. Fa...

AKA - beach combers - pantaloons - peddle pushers - pirate pants* - * I hate using that word ! Capri Pants (UGH!) - of no practical use it is like wearing pants under a skirt - serves no viable function ! The capris that I have (that I wore out before I wore skirts in public) are all trimmer than t...

Re: Do folks notice or not?
Since it was what passes for warm here in SF today, I wore one of my rather full (with soft pleats) linen skirt to the park to read in the sun. The skirt is four inches or so below the knee and will lift if the wind get under it, but is long enough that even with wind lift a passer-by would see much...

Re: Where have so many members gone
have any of you thought of whether you would want this forum notifying in the event of your demise and who you would want to do it. I have thought occasionally that if I were to go suddenly then at the moment I have no mechanism for this and I presume that most of you may not. So a prolonged absenc...

Re: Why I haven't been around for a while
Uncle Al - I can sympathize with you. I went to my dentist for a regular six month check up a couple of years ago. He found a soft spot at the base of an eight or ten year old crown (he still does both the exam and cleaning himself) and scheduled me to come back in a couple of weeks for a better eva...

Re: Where have so many members gone
I may have overstated my case a bit when I said I didn't have a great amount of time left. It was more a case of have having poor quality of life between biweekly chemotherapy sessions that was making me consider not continuing. But, I had a heart-to-heart with my oncologist before my infusions (thr...

Re: Where have so many members gone
The opening screen informed me I haven't been on since January 22nd. My reason: I first started showing symptoms of what turned out to be colon cancer right around Christmas (pain in the gut followed by noise in the gut and the pain would go away (for the moment)). Bearing a Y chromosome, I of cours...

Re: Long "maxi" skirts
I thought about a short skirt and some long thigh high socks, however I desired to let my legs breathe a little, plus I do prefer the feeling of not having a garter belt on, which as I've found is basically a requirement if you want to keep your socks up. Moon, I've found that over the knee (not qu...

Re: A matter of evolution
On reflection... She told me to have a blessed day and went on her way. Do you suppose you may have brushed wings with another Wiccan? That's not a typical Christian line. I used to receive that goodby from an older Aftican-American woman who was the manager of an Oroweat bread outlet store where I...

Re: Vintage skirt
Oh my. That is a beauty! But at 45" long even I'd have to wear heels to keep the hem off the deck, not to mention the 26" waist measurement is about a foot too small. Who could actually wear such a thing? The geometry boggles the imagination. (However, I imagine the effect would be electr...

Vintage skirt
I saw this skirt featured in a Wall Street Journal story about luxe vintage fashions in today's (January 7th) Wall Street Journal. Now this is what I call a skirt, lots of soft pleats and I bet it would be sensual to walk around in. Now if it just didn't cost US$1.575 and have a 26" waist measu...
Re: Phones
Luddite here: the only phone I have sits on the end table and has two cord coming out of it. One goes to the wall wort that powers it, the other to the VOIP port on my fiber interface box. I'm not a total luddite.

Re: A matter of evolution
Location and money are a big part of how people dress also. I live about 50 miles north of Seattle Washington in what could be called a rural area. When the wife and I go shopping at a local mall you hardly ever see people "dressed up". But if you go near downtown Seattle or over to the e...

Re: Hello from San Francisco!
Welcome Lemwell. Except for one or two days I've worn nothing but skirts on the streets of San Francisco for about the last two and a half months. I live in the Inner Richmond and have been most everywhere from the ocean to the bay and north of the park. I can't vouch for other parts of town.
