Re: skirts for men and kilts presented at Paris fashion week

I honestly forgot about the culottes and then the baggy pants stages for women. I remember in high school culottes were forbidden on girls. So you might be onto something with the transition garments. An extreme feminine appearance on Jean Paul Gaultier's fashion show for men was the appearance of A...

Re: skirts for men and kilts presented at Paris fashion week

Count me as one who cannot stand the look of skirts with trousers. I would rather be seen wearing a full bore dress with hose and heels or a standard man's outfit (coat, tie, and pants) than to wear one of those skirt-and-trouser outfits. The way to get men to wear skirts it seems to me would be to ...

Re: Style Guide

My experience with heels is that I can walk normally without effort up to about 2 3/4 inches. I will not go above 4 inches, and that takes a little practice to wear. Even at 4 inches I don't see any problems of messing up my feet. Any higher than that the discomfort outweighs the appearance. I eithe...

Re: What are we wearing as we're POSTING, part UNO

A long sleeve grid pattern shirt with dark navy pants - business casual.

I DO wear pants (conventional men's attire) a lot of the time - not just dresses.

Re: What makes a skirt masculine?

I agree that men need to work hard, play hard, and stand up for their families as head of the house and to defend this country. So I can accept there is a necessary quality of fighting hard for defense. In the 19th century a lot of boys were raised wearing dresses and with long hair - I have seen a ...

Re: Creative Writing - Help Please

My experience with clothing as I have written before is there are two types of people: 1. If a person will tolerate a skirt in an otherwise standard men's outfit on a man, (s)he will tolerate a full blown dress with hose, heels, and makeup. However, if I wear a dress, most of the time it is an infor...

Re: Creative Writing - Help Please

Mugman, It's good that our national flags have red, white, and blue. Too bad Canada's flag is only red and white. I agree about not caring for men being boxed into the penguin look (tuxedos) or the bird breast look (the standard coat and tie) for formal wear. I like to wear those garments but I also...

A short sleeve floral maxi-dress. It's warmer than it as been for a long time. I'm barefoot.

Re: I think this look works(even if the author doesn't)!!!

That model needs to stand up straight and not slouch. I can't stand his posture in that picture. His facial hair is fine. Those conventional men's shoes are too heavy for a knee-length dress. I discovered that I have to wear at least moderate heels with knee-length dresses to look good. You can get ...

Re: Is it satire or is it .... ?

He needs a dress and hose to go with his pumps instead of that dorky suit with the monotonous "bird breasted" look.

Re: Creative Writing - Help Please

A maxi-dress addresses the problems of the skirt blowing up (the skirt is almost ankle length), warmth (I can wear socks up to the hem of the dress) and the issue of rotation. It is also more comfortable than even skirts in that it hangs down from the shoulders. If I wear a shorter formal dress in t...

Re: Creative Writing - Help Please

A reason that I now wear skirts and dresses is the comfort of not having that wedge of cloth sticking in my crotch, and in the summertime, of having air circulate from below. When I wear short skirts and dresses I instinctively sit with my legs together and when I cross my legs, I cross them high ab...

Re: What makes a skirt masculine?

I don't worry if a garment is feminine or masculine. The question is does it look good on the wearer? If yes, then end of discussion! After all women don't worry too much about garments looking too masculine on them. Only men have to be so fragile in their egos to worry so much about something look...
